Our classic casual coat is easy to move in and layer under. With little touches like inverted pleats and buttoned patch pockets it's no surprise this coat continues to be a customer favorite, year after year. Inspired by our iconic Field Coat (originally named Maine Duck Hunting Coat), first introduced in 1924.

I wish that the Bean would bring back the insulated one that is warmer and offer the red and navy colors again.

Excellent waterproof (yet breathing) barn coat.
It's right in every way. It fits, it is water proof, it's a good weight for cool, rainy, gray days. The pockets are a good size, easy to reach. I was relieved that the basic design of my 10 year old barn coat I bought at LL Bean has not been changed. That's a miracle.

Love this coat
This is my favorite coat for spring and fall. The flannel lining makes it comfortable in temperatures down to about 40 degrees. The pockets are large and well placed on the garment. I have purchased this coat three times over the years. My one issue has been that the color fades over time. It starts out as a vibrant green and fades to a paler yellowish olive green. At that point I buy a new one for the out in public me and keep the older one for the out in the garden me.

Versatile Jacket that’s a must for spring/fall.
Beautiful jacket that’s perfect for transitional seasons (spring/fall). You can dress up or down with this. I love how versatile the design is. However, the buttons are not strongly sewn so I had to redo them myself. One even got loose and almost fell off.

Finally a great in-between seasons coat
Perfect coat for when a down jacket is too hot but it's still cool and windy. I purchased a size 1X as I hate tight clothing; because the sleeves are not lined in flannel, a heavier sweater just slips right in and there is plenty of room to move in as well as sit and drive (i.e., no shoulder/back confinement). I love the corduroy cuffs and collar, the pockets are deep, and the buttons are nice. I got the green color and love it. Even with a drizzle, the coat was perfect. I'm very glad to have made the purchase as the quality and construction is excellent, truly good value for the money.

Bought for my wife. Although she is pleased with the coat it was rather disappointing to find what appears to be a thin version or faux flannel inner lining.
Appears to be cheaply made as well considering an LL Bean product. Low quality , price is very high for the quality.

I literally just got my barn coat in the mail and it was such a disappointment. I bought one back in 2013 and the quality of that one was stunning, thick material on the outside, the inside flannel lining felt expensive and plush. This new one is TERRIBLE and cheap looking. I’m surprised no one has mentioned this in their reviews. If you had an older version of this barn coat save your money and don’t order this one it’s nothing like it. Poorly made, quality is cheap.

Nice quality and well made for the value. Cheaper than a lot of brand’s barn jacket. Comfortable and fashionable. I’m 5”7, 34A and 119lbs, got the regular size small and fits perfectly. Not big not tight, has enough room for a sweater underneath. But not so oversized that won’t be warm. I like the khaki color. Wish there was more color to choose from though.

Bury me in this coat
I LOVE this coat, its got all the features you would need. The only thing that would rate it 6 stars is if it had an interior pocket. The quality is exceptional. Planning to take it to Amsterdam this spring so I was looking for something not too warm, but water repellent. If you're on the fence about getting it just do it! I like my jackets a bit roomy and the Large was perfect, I just need to roll the sleeves but it looks even cuter with the corduroy cuffs exposed.

Bought this barn jacket 3 times
and the colors have faded This is not what supposed to happened after having the jacket for 5 years I am seriously considering buying the fourth one but they are not available until May 2025. by then spring and warm weather arrives This a winter jacket Very disappointed with LL Bean they should use another manufacturer
