Excellent pants. Practical and good looking.
These pants are great. Very comfortable Side pockets need to be a bit larger is my only complaint, but overall they are very practical and can be dressed up or dressed down. I have them in 3 different colors.

Why did you change the perfect pants?
I own three pairs of these and have told everyone I know that LL Bean are the only company that really understands how to build useful, but unobtrusive side leg pockets in their pants… phone in the left zippered pocket, a few daily items in the right Velcro pocket, and a tiny multitool in the watch pocket. It was perfect, freeing up the standard pockets for wallet, keys and such. Now I have lost some weight and my old ones no longer fit, so I came here to buy more. Imagine my disappointment, then, when I discovered that you have changed the design, eliminating the right leg pocket and the Velcro closures. I’m sorry, but that’s a deal breaker. I can only hope that someone else has copied your original ideas, or perhaps I can find a tailor to take in the olds ones.

My husband has worn these pants for the last six years for work. I went to order three more pair and you’ve changed the design by eliminating the pockets. The reason he loved these pants where the low profile pockets so disappointing.

redesign eliminating velcro pockets and right leg pocket likely means I will not reorder. Would be nice if a 31 inch inseam was offered as 30 is too short and 32 too long. have to get tailored every time.

New design?
I have 6 pairs of these pants and just purchased 2 new pairs the other weekend and when I got home I noticed that they changed the design of the pants. There is now an open pocket on side of left leg and no side pocket on right leg. The sizing is different as well, through the leg and waist. When I noticed this I checked the tag on the pants to me old ones from last year and they are different models but still Riverton. LLBean why did you change this pants? The previous pairs I give a 5 star but I’m not sure about these yet so I give them a 3.

Surprisingly good
Bought these several months ago but have only wore them about 4 times, but not because I do not like them - I would rather save them since you never know when LL is going to pull the plug on the clothes you like (something they've been doing much of lately). heck, I ought to simply buy another pair and maybe I'll just do that!
The fit is roomy, the pant fits looser than I like and I wish it was worn at the waist instead of lower, but the fabric is nice and feels comfortable.Just need to tighten that belt to make them stay up.

a little snug but still good!
Overall great pants! They look good and feel better. There are plenty of pockets for everything you might need. Everything about these pants feel sturdy. The only complaint is these fit a little snug, but I have found most LLBean pants have a tendency to do so. For reference, a 34 waist from Wrangler is just a touch big enough to be roomy and fit with a belt, these 34 waists are just a little bit too tight but still comfortable, and there is still enough room in the thigh to be plenty comfortable.

Not only for men!
These are everything I want in hiking pants (and a little more!) I remove much of the Velcro and one of the pocket flaps for easy access. I'm female and want hiking pants of a cotton-nylon blend with a phone pocket and camera battery pocket. These are the only ones I've found--the fit is reasonable, the color choice is good and now my husband wears them too! Sizing has been a bit irregular. I'm a 10 in ladies and a size 31 works in these. Sure wish someone made women's hiking pants like these instead of 100% nylon.

Perfect combination of form and function
A few years ago I purchased a similar pair of L.L.Bean pants which were fabricated with materials that stretch well resulting in a nice fit. They also had plenty of pockets. Especially a handy pocket on the right thigh area for my phone. I’ve been scouring the L.L.Bean website since then for another. These pants have pockets in all the right places. My favorites are 1) the pocket on the right thigh which conveniently and safely holds my phone, 2) the deftly designed and somewhat hidden additional zippered pocket on the left thigh. The fabric is a nice blend of light weight with ruggedness. I wear these for every day use however, combined with a dress shirt would present a pleasing business casual look.
Sizing….. Here is what I normally select for my perfect fit….Natural Fit: Sits at waist.
Roomy through hip and thigh. Straight leg. To achieve this type of fit with these pants I needed to go up two waist sizes. Trust me. Making the paradigm shift on your waist size for these pants is well worth it. Sizing up resulted in a perfect fit without the need for a belt. With sizing sorted out I found exactly what I was looking for and thus I ordered a second pair. I’ll soon be ordering two more pair to assure I have plenty. Thank you L.L. Bean for your continued combination of high quality, form and function!

Simply wonderful pants, but...
I enjoy the Riverton stretch pants so much that I have been buying them for several years and don't wear jeans anymore. They are a great cut for my body type and give me space/stretch where I need it. In this case (this pair), the pants fit as they should. However, after years of purchasing I have easily noticed that sizes are not consistent. I attribute this to the foreign manufacturing - nothing against that (but prefer made in USA), but don't expect one Asian country to cut a 33x34 the same as a different Asian country regardless if they have the same pattern. I spent 6.5 years living in various Asian countries and had the same problem while there. And to that respect, it can be a bit annoying. But gave 5 stars because it did not happen with this pair of pants.

An LL Bean classic !
The Riverton pant is comfortable, hard wearing and well designed. Great spot for the cell phone pocket and secure storage for the wallet. It’s a good value with regard to the lifespan of the garment and how well it fits. I consider them my ‘go to’ pants and own every color.

Good, could be better
IMO, 7 is the correct number of belt loops for men’s jeans and pants. These have only 6. And the belt loops are illogically spaced and casually placed. There are two side pockets. The left one has a zip closure and is quite shallow but I manage to carry my wallet there. The right side pocket has Velcro closure and is too shallow for my very modestly sized iPhone 6 (5.6 inches long). The watch pocket is comically small and would be very difficult to use (like most). The stretch is about right.
That said, these are tough and I generally like them. Would be better if they came in 31 inch length. I think my 4 star rating might be overly generous but close to correct.

I like the pants but you need to improve the phone pocket. The pocket is too small to fully insert the phone and it easily falls out. I’m sending a photo of a pocket that works!

Great Pants - please bring back the 36" length
These are currently my favorite pants. The external pocket on the right leg is ideal for my cell phone. The back pockets don't need two velcro strips each but it was relatively east to remove. The zipper pocket on the left leg is a real waste - not big enough to hold much. Please bring back the 36" length - I would buy a bunch more if you do, especially with a 35" waist.
