Why We Love It
On the inside, we start with premium 850 down, which provides more warmth for its weight, and then treat it with innovative DownTek that repels water to maintain warmth and loft, longer. On the outside, we use game-changing Pertex Y-shaped yarns that create a tightly interlocked weave to shed moisture, keep down feathers inside and remain durable over long periods of wear and tear.

Rated 3 out of 5 by homesickmainer from Warmth for cold days! I’ve had this jacket for just about a year. I bought it for very cold days alpine skiing. It is my warmest jacket and my go-to for those single digits and sub-zero days on the hill. However, for skiing, I wish it had a bigger hood that actually fits over a helmet. The exterior fabric has not held up well. It really is not durable enough to hold up against abrasive ski equipment and ski lifts. I’ve sprung a couple ‘leaks’ already and down feathers are quickly escaping! I really like the inner cuffs on the sleeves and the neck protector. It helps keep out the cold. I’m sure this jacket would be perfect for walking the dog, but doesn’t quite meet my expectations for a ski jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by amyep from Comfortable and warm, great fit in hips I bought this jacket to wear as an insulating layer under a shell for snowboarding in very cold New England conditions. (Paired with LL Bean TEK 02 3L jacket). To my delight, it is beautiful, fits great, and I want to wear it all the time. I got the blue with yellow detail. It is a little bit puffy for a mid layer, but I was worried a thinner down jacket would not be warm enough for a very cold days. I have now tested it twice on the mountain. The first day out, Weather was in the 30s, and I was actually hot, with all of my vents open (vents on the shell, not on this jacket). The second day was in the single digits. This jacket kept me very nice and warm. I love that LL bean makes women’s outerwear that fits well in the hips, which is a problem with other brands. This jacket works great, fits great. One note about fit: the arms are on the short side for me, and I am usually a petite.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jackie from Great light jacket Nice jacket, fits great with room to layer underneath. Great color (red is my favorite color) and nice construction with zipped pockets (important for me), as well as other attributes I like. What I don't particularly like is that it is really a light jacket. I thought with 850 down and a puffer jacket that it would be warmer. I live in Alaska's arctic and will use it for spring/fall. It just isn't heavy enough for winter. Also....I like a two way zipper which this jacket lacks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SherryP from Best Down Jacket Just received this in the black color and absolutely love the look, comfort, warmth & overall fit. I typically wear a Medium top and this is true to size. The jacket is roomy enough to layer underneath. Plenty of room under the armpits when moving. I find that this tends to be a problem with so many other down coats. Love the deep outside pockets to hold gloves, keys, phone, small wallet and not worried that they will fall out! The one inside zipper pocket is great too! It is so warm and lightweight. I did not need to turn the heat up as much in the car with wind chills in the teens. Walking outside kept me very warm and comfortable. Like the way the back drops just a bit lower than the front for a bit more back end coverage. I would like an inch or two more length in the back. Also, like the round bottom of the back. A nice look. The hood does not get in the way and not too bulky if not being used. Nice touches with details of the draw strings for the hood. It comes with a bag and is packable, which is amazing for such a warm down jacket. I highly recommend this jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GMTWOOLIES from light & warm This coat is very light and very warm. Fits well over sweatshirts and is great for layering. Haven't had it long but seems to be good even in moderate rain. Wasn't out long with it in the rain but seemed to bead and run off. Like it very much.

Rated 4 out of 5 by PAHiker10 from Warm and lightweight Fantastic jacket. Very comfortable. Both warm and lightweight. Soft but snug around the wrist so cold air doesn’t get in. Love wearing it. The only reason I gave it a 4 is that I didn’t like the yellow lining. An off shade, not a clear sunny yellow. The carbon navy is nice, and the lighter weight carbon navy 850 jacket had a pretty aqua contrast for zippers. Otherwise great jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Helenc from Love the coat I originally bought a medium thinking I would be wearing layers under but the medium was really big, so went to the the store & swapped it for a small, still have plenty of room for layers. This will be my 32 degrees & above walking coat. nice, comfy & warm.
