Rated 5 out of 5 by theblackhawks from Toasty! My most recent parka prior to this was a North Face 800 fill parka which was incredibly warm, but ran too small. I needed a coat that I could comfortably layer under. I was nervous that this coat would be too short, since my last jacket was mid-thigh, but this actually comes almost down to mid-thigh, itself. It's the warmest jacket I've ever had, and far surpasses the warmth of my North Face coat. This morning, it was about 18 degrees (F) outside, but I couldn't tell. It felt like it was at least 40, maybe warmer. It's not a form fitting jacket, so if you're looking for a stylish coat, this is definitely not going to be your go-to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KC91 from Great Jacket! I was going back-and-forth between this jacket and a down jacket, but because I'm often outside in the not-so-ideal elements I ultimately went with the Rugged Ridge Jacket. I love the waterproof pocket on the chest and all the pockets are very soft, with plenty of storage for my phone/keys/cards in the inside pockets. It was below 20* this morning and I was toasty warm. I went with the brown and constantly get compliments on this jacket, I like how its a bit longer in the back and the arms are the perfect length for me. I wear medium shirts and this jacket was just too big, go a size down if you want it to look more flattering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LLBeanCustomer100 from Lightweght and warm My wife and I bought the same style jackets and we are very happy with them. The Rugged Ridge Parka is just what we were looking for. The style and cut is very nice, tailored so you don't look like the Pillsbury Dough Boy and long enough to cover your behind. The fabric is waterproof but has a nice smooth feel. The jacket is warm and windproof. But you can leave it on while shopping in a store and not get overheated. It is also lightweight so you don't feel like you are dragging around a lot of extra baggage. The only small problem we found is the zipper. It is a bit difficult to connect and disconnect. But after you get the hang of it, it is easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OhioLLBgirl from Love the old style better, but.... I have had my RRP for probably 10 years and love it so much that although I've tried other coats I keep going back to my "old" one. It is still just as beautiful as the day I got it ,unfortunately I had to replace the zipper (just this month before winter sets in) but otherwise it is great. Keeps me warm in the crazy Ohio winters, and I'm one of those people who is always cold! Love all the pockets, and the fit. I tried to replace it with the "new & improved version" and didn't like the fit. I ordered the same size and it was smaller on me. I do agree with others on one point though--would love to replace the front velcro with snaps!

Rated 4 out of 5 by llbeancustomer2016 from love the fit The petite medium jacket fits really well for my frame, 5'2" and 150 lbs. Not too tight over my hips. Does not make me look dumpy. I find the jacket warm enough for our New England winters. I like that it does not feel too tight under my arms if I wear a bulky sweater. The hood is big as others have mentioned, but fits well if the jacket is zipped all the way up. My only disappointment is the color. The picture on the website shows a lilac coat with a darker purple stripe on the sleeve. The coat is actually blue with the purple stripe. Still looks nice but I think light purple instead of blue would have been better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RaggedyBlast from Love my new jacket This is my primary winter jacket. I live on the north coast of Washington and walk 2 - 3 miles a day on the beach. It's already cold and wet here. This jacket gives me warmth, wind and the drizzly rain protection. It fits perfectly, sized as expected. Looks great; I bought the grey/black style. I like the soft material around the neck. It has pockets in all the right places for phone, dog leash, tissues, etc. And has a good hood for unexpected rain showers. Great quality, I think I'm going to have this one as long as my old LLBean winter jacket; 15 years old! Note; this is warm jacket, not the heaviest weight but definitely for cold/damp weather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by lumpy123 from llbean is the best Rugged Ridge Parka is true to size, very warm yet light, I love the well fitting inner sleeve cuffs, they do a great job keeping the wind and snow out. I live in an area that reaches -20f in the winter and well below that with wind-chill and this jacket is my new go-to. I love that it is lower in the back to cover your behind because it allows you to pick things up off the ground without exposing your back to the frigid temperatures. the dual zipper is a nice feature and the coat appears to be as rugged and well constructed as everything else LLBean. The biggest plus is that I know that if anything should go wrong, even years from now, LLBean will fix it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OntarioLady from Fits perfect This is one of the first products I have purchased from L.L. Bean. I bought it in the French/violet blue color and it it is more royal blue with bright purple down the sleeves. When I opened it I was not sure I liked it. I was wrong,I pulled it out yesterday for my first snowstorm of the year. It is also very warm which is one of the reasons I purchased it. I also spilled a coffee on it and it just beaded off. The pockets are deep and plenty. Detachable hood is great. The drawstrings are located at bottom, waist, neck and one to make the hood tighter around the head. This is one happy and warm Ontario Lady.
