Great sweater but runs big
I ordered a medium and it fit like a large. Exchanged for a small which was perfect. If you want a loose fitting slightly large size then get your normal size but for the just right fit, I suggest getting a size down.

WAY too big
I preface this by saying that I love L.L. Bean and always have. I should’ve remembered that their sizes tend to run a little big. That said, I’m 5’8” with a muscular build, so ordered a medium. When it came in, it fit like an extra large - no exaggeration. There were no smalls available for exchange, so I washed the garment in hot water several times to see if I could shrink it, but even that didn’t do nearly enough. Sadly, I won’t be able to wear this one out and about, and will just keep it as an expensive cozy winter sweater to be worn around the house.

Very baggy
Normally I wear either a L or M shirt/sweater, depending on brand/cut. I ordered a L and M to try them both on. Didn't bother with the L, since I was absolutely swimming in the M. I have a fairly trim build, so maybe if you're a bigger guy it'll fit better. The sleeve and body lengths were OK, it was all the excess material that made it ridiculously baggy on me. Maybe when I was in high school back in the 90's, but not these days...

Comfortable and Soft
I am not one to wear scratchy sweaters made of wool or even cashmere blends with cotton. So, this sweater is perfect because the cotton is extremely soft and the heavy weight of it requires a simple t-shirt underneath to provide comfort and warmth. I'm ecstatic that I bought two of them. Now if LL Bean can make the exact same sweater with just a crew neck or v-neck I would buy at least one of each. Highly recommend if you're looking for a casual, comfortable, cozy, warm sweater!

size and color
Just received my indigo sweater. Much darker than the pic. I typically wear xl sweaters, don't even mind if they are tad large ... but this is like an xxl -- it is huge. Go down a size from what you normally wear.

Very nice sweater but definitely runs large
I love this sweater and purchased a second in another color but it definitely runs large. I ordered both Small and Medium since i usually wear medium but reviews said it runs large. The Medium is going back. I have several of the Bean Mini-Waffle Henley, Long-Sleeve Traditional Fit shirts all in size Medium which fit perfect. Same fit as this sweater but the Small sweater fits best. The Small is even a little loose but will be fine over a shirt.

Weak stitching
The sweater fit well and not tight. After one wear the stitching under the arm pit unraveled, leaving a hole in the arm pit. Rather disappointed because the feel of the material was quality as always but the stitching felt rather fragile.

Nice but huge
I normally wear an xl sweater. This sweater in an XL was gigantic, so I returned it for a large. The large is even very, very bulky...and long.
