Rated 3 out of 5 by VallecitoGirl from Great boot, but wish they lasted longer My husband loves these boots, they're comfortable straight out of the box. He's admittedly very hard on them, but I would expect them to last longer than they do. He has two pairs on rotation, and we've exchanged several throughout the years, but they just don't last him longer than about a year. The sole comes unglued (compromising their waterproofness, which is essential), and the insole liners practically disintegrate. We've tried replacing with store bought insoles, but the fit is never quite right again. The price point is just too high to have to buy a new pair every year. I'm sure they'd last years for someone who is a more casual hiker, but that is not my husband.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mhess427 from Warehouse Worker These boots hold up better than others in a UPS Warehouse environment, and when the other boots wear their soles out, these show very little wear. The rubber used in the Vibram sole is very tough and takes a long time to soften up; I estimate about 200 miles of walking before it softened to the point where I didn't feel like I was walking on hockey pucks. If you're hesitant to get these because of the price, don't be, and this is why: you will have these boots for the rest of your life. Instead of buying new boots every year like the people I work with, I invested in these which will last a lifetime due to their build quality and warranty.

Rated 3 out of 5 by OregonBeanFan from Very Stiff These boots are well made. The fit seems slightly narrow, however the rest of the sizing is accurate. These boots are extremely stiff and do not break in very easily. After wearing these boots for about 30 miles of walking, I still found them to be extremely stiff and uncomfortable. They do not seem to get any better with miles in the comfort area, but they do appear to be able to hold up over the long haul. The soles are very hard and are not conducive to normal trail hiking but may be what a person wants if climbing around very rocky areas. Unfortunately, I found these boots way too stiff for my liking and comfort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Glenn from Cresta I love the Crestas and have bought many a pair over the years because they stand up to repetitive ladder work. They truly are still built very rugged and are well made and I've hiked in the Rockies with them and never got a blister or any other issue whatsoever. The one thing that I wish LL Bean would consider (and I'm betting that I'm not alone on this) is for them to offer the same, exact boot, but without the Gore tex lining. The lining keeps them super waterproof, but in hot weather conditions, they would be so much more comfortable without the Gore tex. that being said, they are still a great choice, but are much more comfortable in cooler weather.

Rated 1 out of 5 by theaddies from Loved these (passed tense) I am on my second pair of these boots. The first pair seemed to last forever. Eventually the sole started to delaminate from the boot and so I replaced them. I have had this second pair for about 3 years and the sole is delaminating from the boot and they leak BADLY. It is really a shame as I did love these boots and was actually worried they might stop making them as they have been around for a long time. Now I find myself looking for waterproof alternatives as these have failed badly!

Rated 5 out of 5 by DNooch from 20 years I bought my boots 20 years ago from the LLBean store. I swallowed hard to spend $175 for a pair of boots, but I hiked all over New England and now New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. But I also used them to work in in the desert in the summers. There is a giant hole in the Vibram sole from stomping on shovels. I've broken so many shovels, but not these boots. I can still stand right in a puddle or stream up to the ankle and stay bone dry. They are covered in character and stories. Sometimes a thing is more than a thing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Vplakkot from Shockingly poor workmanship I'm pretty shocked that this product is defective out of the box. I'm a loyal customer of L.L.Bean and I'm very disappointed with this product. The shoes look great & tough, and have a list of impressive features per the description. I, excitedly, wore them right out of the box and went hiking. It was a wet day too. I came home with wet toes!!!! For a brand new "waterproof" hiking boots this is pretty sad. I'm an experienced hiker and have owned hiking boots from Merrell and wolverine. I thought I'll make a change and try L.L.Bean. Sorry to say these are poor quality shoes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cougar43 from Great boots These are great hiking boots. I bought a set of Vesque Hiking boots 20 years ago and left them in my camper for a few years and when I put them on last year I literally stepped out of the souls they fell apart. My Cresta hikers I bought 20 years ago and they are still great hiking boots that I still use today. They are a bit heavy but I bought them for backpacking in the winter months and they work great for that, mine are full leather. They are very warm and comfortable and I can hike all day in these boots with out worrying about hot spots and blisters. I would defiantly buy another pair when I ware these out.
