Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only Wish I Bought These Sooner! I don't know why I waited to buy these rain pants. For a toddler who likes to get down & dirty, wearing these pants will save me from washing an extra pair of pants every single day. I'll be layering them over his pants on a regular basis on milder days (it's December in New England). The velcro cuff is awesome--allows you to cinch the pants shut at the ankle or over boots or whatever you'd like. LOVE these rain pants! Note: If you're wavering between sizes, buy big--you can roll 'em up at the waist if need be, and you'll get an extra season out of them. My son is 2, 31 lbs, 35 inches, and I bought the 4T--it doesn't even really seem big.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not waterproof submersible We live in the Pacific Northwest, in northern California in the Redwoods where it rains a lot. We don't face bitter cold, or snow most of the time, but just wet, wet, wet. These pants will let a bit of water through after playing in the rain for an hour. My 8 year old boy put these on and played for a few hours then noticed his knee was wet. L.L. Bean has good quality items, but waterproof in their catalog many times means for slush and snow, not submersible waterproof. We've purchased boots, jackets, and pants that say waterproof but found they were not. We have to shop on the West Coast to find the wet-proof items for our kids. Go BOGS!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect! Thanks for the other reviews! I wanted to order these for my toddler and because I read the previous reviews, I was able to get exactly what I needed. I ordered the matching jacket one size larger and these pants one size smaller. She wears 18 months right now so the jacket was 24months and the pants were 12months. Worked perfectly to accomodate for the loose waist which I know would have been a problem if I ordered true to size. The 12 month pants still work great and the 24 month jacket provide extra protection in case she sits on wet grass or mud. Very happy and thanks for all the previous reviews.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for a crawling/just walking toddler! I purchased these for my crawling/learning to walk 16 month old and they are great! After reading many reviews online, I decided to go with LL Bean's rain pant because of the quality, customer service, and excellent price. After crawling and sitting in mud and wet grass for over an hour, my little guy's pants were still completely dry underneath the rain pant. They do run a bit big as noted in some of the other reviews, so I ordered the 12-18 month size (my little guy is wearing 18-24 month pants). They are still just a little loose in the waist, but I think that is intentional for warmer layering. I combined them with some Stonz booties for crawlers and he's toasty warm, despite the wet conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than all the rest! My girls wear rain pants spring through fall to protect clothes from rain, mud, slush, etc. and the LLBean Discovery pants are hands-down the best! My biggest has been wearing them for several years (she now has to move up to the Little Kids), and my middle is enjoying the hand-me-downs. We get extra time out of them by rolling the waist. They’re lightweight, easy for the kids to get on and off on their own, wash like a dream (even when FILTHY), and the elastic bottom cinches over boots, so any puddle is fair game! I will buy these forever.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice quality but needs alterations As per so many reviews, I have to agree. The pants are awesome to keep your toddler dry from all the puddles and mud they can find, however the non adjustable waist is an issue. The waist band is not very tight and there is no adjustments thus a bit too big around the waist for my average sized 12 month old grandson. Love the adjustable Velcro legs so the pants adjust to height well and keep the weather out. Please LL Bean, fit the waist and you'll have the perfect pants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Puddle Jumping Success I got these toddler rainpants for our grandson. With playgrounds closed and a need to keep our distances, what better way to have fun with a 2.5 year old, then to take advantage of rainy days, by finding puddles to jump in?!! His rain boots came home with puddles in them until we got these pants. Now we were able to jump for hours and as long as he didn't wade in over the height of his boots, we came home with dry feet!!! The pants are thin enough to go over other pants and would work for a warm day with shorts. Big thumbs up from this grandma!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for wet adventures My 3 year old goes to a nature play based preschool and they go outdoors in all weathers. This is one of the few waterproof rain pants I could find in her size. It does work as advertised. The velcro cuffs at the bottom can be fitted even to my tiny toddlers ankles. My only complaint is the width of the legs is quite wide and it does look like she's wearing two bags on her legs. But she's an <5% for weight kind of a kid. The positive aspect is she can wear multiple pant layers without problem if need be.
