Elastic waist squeaks and mismatched pocket linknh
I bought 4 pairs of these shorts in 2024 after an exhaustive search for a similar style. After wearing them for a while, 2 things that bother me.
The “squeaky “ elastic is especially bothersome when studying and desire a quiet environment.
My 2nd complaint is that the pocket lining does not match the fabric color of all the shorts. As one with a “pot belly” and prefers to tuck in my shirt tale, this is noticeable.
I kept the shorts to wear around the house and because all my other shorts had worn out, but it I could have found some shorts without these issues, I would have returned these.
Otherwise these are great shorts and wash well without needing ironing.

Same Old Colors
I really like these shorts, but I've had all 3 colors for years. Every year I check to see if you've got anything but black, khaki, navy, and stone, and year after year I'm disappointed. Why not brown? green?? denim??? anything different?

Best shorts ever
I love these shorts because they are long enough to cover my thighs, I am almost 80, but good looking enough to wear to the grocery store. The quality is great and the pockets deep enough so that my phone doesn't fall out. I always order a size up cause I hate tight shorts with straight legs.

Please bring back the White shorts!
These shorts are great. I've been wearing them for years. BUT, the reason why I didn't give 5 stars is, for the life of me I don't understand why they don't make "white" ones. It's summertime, and the "Heritage Stone" color just doesn't cut it. I will be returning these, and won't order again until they bring the "whites" back.

Great shorts for northern summers!
The 100% cotton fabric is excellent, though the shorts may not feel 'cool' in hot summer weather. I also thought the shorts could have a 'slightly slimmer fit' in the legs.

Beautiful fabric and styling
Although I returned these, the fabric and style are beautiful. My legs are very thin and they looked more like culottes than shorts. The legs were entirely too wide for my body. I rated this item so high because, like all Bean clothing, this piece is well-made and, on the right body type, would be perfect.

Dress shorts
I am waiting for the spring thaw to wear these new shorts. They do not seem to be worn for walking other than strolling. I do like the color and length for casual daytime dining and travel. I look forward to pairing them with pretty tops for the spring. The fit is flattering. The high waist is perfect and the hips are not at all tight. I am very glad I purchased these.

Fit and length are great
The fit is good, enhanced by a piece of elastic built into the waistband. The only con is that the pockets on the beige -colored pair are lined with a lighter-colored fabric that can show if the pocket opening is stretched for some reason. The navy one doesn’t have this problem.

Poor fit
I am usually a size 6 (including recently purchased LLBean jeans), sometimes size 4. I sized up to an 8 based upon the reviews but the waist was a little tight. I purchased the 9" length shorts thinking that would be appropriate for my height and 70+ year age, but the length is quite frumpy. I am a long-time LLBean customer but will be returning these.

Just not for me.
They fit everywhere great but the legs just didn’t fit right. The legs were too baggy and so they won't look good on me.
