Two years later...
I came on here to write a review, and was so surprised to see I have had this pillow for two years. It's still really GREAT. I had struggled with finding a pillow I liked for a long time, and purchased many that I had for a few months, or even weeks. This pillow still has held up. I take it when I travel, bc I love this pillow. Highly recommend. I would buy another, but do not need to , since I still love mine!

Excellent quality
The material is excellent quality and the pillow is made well. I prefer a firm pillow, but purchased a medium after reading reviews. Most reviews indicated the pillow is too firm. I find the medium is a little too hard even for me. However, most pillows flatten after using awhile so I am satisfied with this purchase.

Terrible
This pillow is a blob that barely fits in a new LL Bean pillowcase, because it's way too thick (high). It's a medium, but it's stuffed to the gills with the alrernative down and not very giving. Neither design nor production is good in this badly conceived pillow.

The Best Pillow!
Many years ago I was in a car accident and sustained a neck injury. I needed a special, non-feather/down pillow to support my neck and help relieve my headaches. I tried several brands. None were comfortable until I tried this one. I ordered Medium first. It was too thick for my neck. The Small is perfect! It is very well-made and quality fabric. This is my 3rd pillow of this kind. LL Bean, my neck thanks you!!!

Down-Alternative Pillow - Firm and Standard Size

This is a pillow
I have been searching for this pillow for a lifetime. I have always just used whatever pillow was there. I would resort to folding the pillow or stacking them to make it high enough to be comfortable. Nothing was ever really “comfortable .” When you sleep on your side, you need a firm, high support for your head. I had even invested in an expensive firm down pillow, but it would mash, and I would sink. This Bean firm pillow is FIRM. Every night, I smile when I get into bed with it. Resting my head on it without squishing my shoulder feels so good. It’s about time.

Great sleep from night #1!

Soft feels more like medium
I have had this exact pillow for several years and have loved it so decided to order another one; however, the “soft” feels more like a medium and my other one wasn’t like this new one when I bought it. The quality is superb but it’s just the overstuffing that I’m not happy with. I am disappointed as my other one has been a great pillow! I’m going to “recommend” because of the quality but just be careful if you want a really soft pillow that this is not that.

Down Alternative Damask: I got standard size, ‘soft’.
I like a very soft down pillow and this was about as full as I could use. The ‘medium’ would have been too high for my head or for a child’s head.

Wonderful sleeps abound with this pillow.
Great for someone who sleeps alternating on stomach, side and back. It’s accommodates with softness that fills in where needed but quickly puffs back up to fluffiness.

Ok Pillow
I have purchased these pillows in the past - this time however the pillows have lost their loftiness very quickly. They have become quite flat. Not quite what I was expecting or hoping for.

Pretty good pillow, but not perfect
The pillow is well made and comfortable. I would not really call it soft, though. Originally, I ordered the medium, which was hard as a brick! This one is more like a medium to me. I wish the cover were white instead of cream, too. Even with a pillow protector it makes my white sheets look dingy!

Overstuffed and hard
The pillow was very well made, and I like the white damask cover. However, it was way overstuffed and hard as a brick! The exchange for soft was easy, but the soft ones are pretty hard, too.

Why I love LL BEAN
I keep buying pillows on line based on reviews and hate them once I get them. We were vacationing in Maine so we stopped at Freeport just so I could pillow shop at L L Bean. It took all of 5 minutes to find this perfect pillow. I have chronic back and neck pain but this pillow has made sleeping much more comfortable. Thanks to L L Bean for making me a happy customer once again

Best Pillow of All Time
I had an LL Bean pillow years ago, but at its life end, I wanted to try other brands. I did so, and quickly learned that nothing compares to the soft down alternative pillow. It really is like sleeping on a cloud. Definitely buy, you won't be disappointed!!

Disappointed
These pillows are 6 months old and have become as flat as the pillows I replaced. I will be returning these. They are not the same quality as those made a few years ago. I am so tired of poor quality everywhere!

Best pillow ever!
This is the best pillow I have ever had! It is very soft and snuggles your head for a great sleep. It holds its shape. Your head rests softly in it but it still provides support. I am a side sleeper and it is perfect! I’m ordering another for safe keeping!

Love these pillows!
Love this pillow, not to soft not to hard. I replace them about every 4 - 5 years. They wash well in a front loading washer. I am a side sleep and I am very happy with this pillow.
