Terrible redesign
I don’t know why they would mess with the old design. The overall size is smaller and there is only be side pocket. It’s barely larger than the size down my daughter has from two years ago. Please bring back the 41L

Sad new design is 38L vs 41L & only 1 side pocket
We have several ll bean backpacks. Elementary to middle to high school now getting ready to send off to college. Very disappointed to hear new design is smaller and we lost a side pocket. Pls consider putting side pockets back - it’s a fav feature in all our LL Bean backpacks (we own 6+) love them!

I'm not sure what they were thinking
Went to go get a new backpack for my daughter. The Super Deluxe has always been a staple. This update feels like a huge step backwards. The only positive thing I can say about it is that I like the new material they used for the stretchy side pocket..... Which they now only have 1 of. From the material, to the layout, I'm not sure who decided that what the update needed was less space and a less functional design, but it seems like maybe they need to bring the old team back, because this one isn't working.
My daughter will be keeping her more functional "old" (read: better) Super Deluxe.

Boo! Terrible redesign
For YEARS LL Bean has made a 41 liter super deluxe backpack and for some reason they decided to redesign it so it’s now essentially the same size as the deluxe. It also is kind of basic and ugly looking now, without the diagonal reflective stripe, but would be willing to overlook that. Wow. I guess the downsizing of products includes backpacks. Extremely disappointing.
