I have had this wallet a couple of weeks and i really like it. it seems to be well made and waxed canvas is very durable. it looks vintage L L Bean but i can't find a usa tag on it. That don't take away from the quality though.I like the looks, the way it feels and the way it functions. I would give it 5 stars if it was made in the U S A

Flies Fall Out
I love the look and feel of this item. The canvas is durable and it looks great. My issue is that the flies do not tend to stay in the inner material. My spey flies are basically just setting on the material even though the barb is in it. All you have to do is open it while it is upright and they fall out. I am disappointed. I still use it because they don't just fall out while it is closed (unless you toss it across the boat and someone misses it and it hits the side of the boat) and if you put the flies in with the point down they stay in better. Just better but not always. It needs the inner material changed out to something that will hold the barb better.
If that wreathe case I would give it 5 stars.....
Looks are a 5 star, durability is a 5 star.... holding flies in is 1 star so I gave it an overall of 2 stars.

Very Good Quality and Functionality
This is a really good looking fly case made in China. Really attractive leather and waxed canvass gives it that nostalgic look. It is a tri-fold, which some have complained is too thick or too large to fit i their vest. I have two vests and they both have a large zippered pocket on the back that that was made for this wallet. No problems. Another complaint was the fleece, that it didn't hold the flies securely. All of my flies are barbless and they securely fastened themselves to the fleece. No problem with them falling out. I also like the design fact that behind each fleece patch there is a pocket for holding flat objects (like $100 bills!) All in all, you will not be disappointed in this fly wallet.

Classic Maine Guide style and quality
Nicely made in the classic style and quality. Matches the Maine Guide reel case perfectly. The third fold makes it a bit too thick to fit into narrow vest pockets.

What is fleece?
I'm having a problem understanding why this product has so many positive reviews! I bought this over the winter and just used it last weekend. The flies slip out of the wallet. The "fleece" isn't like what you have on the LL Beans vest fly patch, it is more like felt. The flies don't grab the "fleece," they just lie there. When you open the wallet, they tend to slip out. In fact, the flies near either end can slip out even if the wallet is closed. I must of lost five flies this weekend, and found at least five others on the ground or hooked to my wading shoe. This is not a functional product.

great construction,great price,almost great design
This is a beautiful product that feels very solid and well-made from the moment you take it out of the packaging; soft canvas and leather, big fluffy shearling, hearty snaps; a truly handsome piece. If you take into account the price of this fly wallet, it's staggering how much you are getting compared to anything similar on the market. The few other companies still offering a fly wallet like this are definitely using some very generous and targeted price mark-ups that all too many fly-fisherman are willing to pay. The bang for your buck on this wallet is phenomenal. Sadly, there is a thorn on this rose and it's kind of a big one; the design. This REALLY should have been a simple bi-fold wallet and that third fold left on the drawing board; this is a case where holding (and being able to advertise the capacity to hold) more flies has let the on the river functionality of the product down. The third fold makes an otherwise clean, manageable, and low profile(easily stored) fishing tool into a clumsy and very bulky piece of gear that might get relegated to the pile of unused gear for too many fisherman and dissuade many more from ever purchasing it and that is a real shame. The thickness of the wallet closed up, even without any flies in it, is quite surprising and is going to require some serious space in your vest or pack; again I think that is a tragedy for this otherwise great wallet. I also wouldn't turn my nose up if they went with a zipper instead of buttons, to minimize the possibility of losing flies out of the open ends. All that said, I love this wallet and will definitely be using it, but I'll certainly be on the lookout for a bi-fold version of it.

Perfect gift
Bought this as a Christmas gift for our son. When I showed it to my husband, he really liked it so he got one for Christmas too! They love how it folds nicely together; has 3 sides for flies; great fluff to load hooks into. Our son has an older style of this but he likes the ll bean one better because it can hold more flies. They've already taken them out fishing over the holidays! It is bigger than a $ wallet so don't expect it to fit into a regular pocket. It is typical fly wallet size though. Thank you for a great product & gift!

Well made, roomy and bulky in your vest
This wallet is nicely made and has lots of room. But it's very bulky when closed with flies (or empty) and will take a lot of room in a fly vest. The old (gads, 20 years maybe?) double wallet I have is much more manageable.
