Product Details

Our legendary Maine-made Bean Boot - lined with sumptuously soft shearling, just like our favorite slippers, and inuslated for cozy comfort in cooler weather.

  • For this style, we recommend you order a half size down from your regular shoe size. For example, if you normally wear a size 9, order a size 8.5.

Our unbeatably comfortable lined Bean Boots are the ideal choice when temperatures start to drop. They're lined with the coziest materials and handsewn right here in Maine - one pair at a time - by expert craftspeople whose technical skills and passion for their work is evident in every pair they make. Warm feet haven't gone out of style in over 100 years - we're betting they won't in the next 100 years either.

  • Waterproof rubber boot bottom keeps feet dry.
  • Iconic triple-needle stitching provides long-lasting durability.
  • Lined with the coziest premium shearling for extra warmth.
  • Waterproof full-grain leather upper sheds rain and snow.
  • Lace-up design offers a secure and customizable fit. Laces not waterproof.
  • Uniquely shaped foot form offers comfort and stability, and a steel shank adds support.
  • Legendary chain-tread outsole gives reliable traction.
  • Boot bottom is lined with 200 grams of Thinsulate™ insulation.
  • Genuine shearling lamb fur is dyed and treated.
  • Best for rain, slush, snow and other wet conditions.
  • Not designed to stay submerged in water.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from These boots are fantastic! I wore these boots in warm to subzero temperatures, and never got cold! I still hunt and they were like wearing sneakers. I will definitely buy again!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dissatisfied in pleather material… Top of boot is thin fake leather fabric. Scratches very easily. Boot is warm though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I didn’t find the need to size down. I purchased my true size and the ball and heel of my foot is in the right place. These actually nearly feel too small and too narrow but if my toe was longer it would still have room. I feel the people swearing by sizing down may not have experience wearing boots and expect them to fit like a shoe. Wool socks are the correct socks to wear with this boot and they should be pulled up so they are above the top of it. If I wore ankle socks they would just be my exact size. I just wanted to share my thoughts on sizing because I was super worried they would be huge. Someone claimed a 7 was a mens size 9 and they needed a woman’s 8 and no, no it is not the size of a regular mens 9, it’s a true 7. Sizing down would be like if you wanted to wear no socks in the lined and athletic or dress shoe socks in the unlined. The boots are a work of art too. I love them and the quality is as good as any expensive leather boot. Heels/soles on boots/shoes only last a couple years so I hope LL bean never shuts down their U.S. factory so I can resole these for many many years to come. Also, all they are made in USA of USA materials. Can not beat that.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Why is the tongue separate ? I never even tried these on. Bean made me answer the fit questions, and their shoes and boots usually fit well. Beautiful boots, I really want a pair, but the tongue is not sewn along the sides like waterproof boots. Snow and water would get right in. Please make these like your other waterproof boots, with a wide, folded tongue that is sewn all the way up alongside the laces to keep water out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacement This purchase replaces a similar pair used hard for about 10 years. Old boots still serviceable, but looking pretty disreputable. New pair only available in D width (old pair were EE) and I awaited delivery with a little apprehension, but the new pair actually fit better than the old. I wish they had speed lacers for the last 4-5 lacings. Warm, comfortable, my standby boots for winter weather, except really deep snow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, Comfortable, Stylish, Quality, Worth it These are a premium-priced, clearly well made boot with many imitators. I bought my family insulated boots from probably Bean's most high profile imitator on sale at about 1/3 the price. They looked great but within a year the rubber in my daughter's boots cracked right through in several places, letting water seep through in the spring. The competitor replaced them, but very reluctantly. Two years later and mine and my wife's boots developed multiple cracks. We're in northern Canada and that is unacceptable. L.L. Bean just happened to have a sale on these shearling-lined boots and while still comparatively expensive (2X), I decided to take a chance. Wow. Warm, comfortable, stylish, and clearly very high quality; when I compared the stitching on my Bean boots to that of the famous competitor I was shocked -- the competitor's stitching was all over the place. Comfort? These boots feel almost like having moccasins on -- I don't want to take them off. Some have mentioned that the shearling boots are not warm enough. I disagree -- with wool socks I've been using these down to -28ºC and have been surprisingly warm. If I was to stand around for an extended time or need to be outside at even colder temps I would wear my Sorels. However, driving in Sorels would be out of the question. Bean boots are awesome and you can use them anywhere. Take care with sizing. I'm a solid 10 to 10.5 mens but the Bean size 9 fit perfect with plenty of room for thick wool socks. I tried the 10 but it was just too big. Now to outfit the rest of the family -- Recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Met all expectations First Bean boots, and couldn't be more pleased. I had several sessions of 1-2 hours at a time clearing snow from last week's Nor'easter wearing these with midweight socks, temps in the mid 20's. Very comfortable and warm. Since then, I've been wearing them to walk the dog, and I've been surprised at how comfortable they are for extended walking. Have not yet tried them in purely wet conditions. A comment about the fit, as it's often a problem for me. My real size is 12.5, which most companies don't make. Some 12's work for me, some 13's, and some 12 wides. I was going to order the 8" Thinsulate Bean Boots in 12EE, but they were backordered until March, so I decided to given these a shot. SO glad I did. With midweight socks, I have plenty of room, and with heavyweight socks, it's a snug but comfortable fit. The ordering recommendation to drop a half size is spot on.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid Used this boot for 2 years. Looks pretty. Good workmanship. Shearling upper keeps the upper ankle warm. Rubber foot not insulated, result, very cold feet. Not made for winter conditions. Would not recommend these boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot for the right use case First things first. I’m not a hunter. I spend more time walking on pavement than anything else, usually wearing a pair of 30-year-old Allen Edmonds. That said, this winter, I’ve been wearing these Bean Boots more often than not since I got them. For everyday use, these boots are unbeatable. These boots are great for snow and rain, and the shearling is comfortable and warm. The insole and the rubber portion of the boot are not shearling-lined. You can buy a set of shearling insoles from LL Bean for not too much money. The Gore-Tex and Thinsulate do their job well, and these boots helped get me through the crazy Philly winter we had this year. The chain-tread soles have enough traction that I don’t worry about slipping on an icy sidewalk. I’ve seen some reviews say the boots don’t keep them warm, and others say they’re too warm to wear outside of the winter. I wore them during the last snowstorm and was fine. I kept them on in the home and was still fine. I think I’ll buy a second pair with no insulation for the hot summer months. The leather is hardly the quality you’d want for, say, a dress shoe. But, it’s strong where it counts. It’s very durable, and it’s developing a nice look over time. I expect I’ll give out before this leather. The soles are of average durability for rubber. They should last for a few years of regular use. LL Bean’s affordable resoling service is much appreciated; Philly is known to eat shoe soles. I would get these over the hunting boots. These boots have thicker soles that are bound to last longer and be more comfortable. One last thing: consider whether you need 12” boots. I felt that I did, since I wanted to keep the snow out, and that decision definitely paid off this winter. That said, it can be a pain to put the boots on at first. I’ve had a couple of rushed days where I chose not to wear these boots because I didn’t want to struggle with them. A pair of 10” boots would be a little easier. That said, it does get easier over time. You get the hang of it, and the boot leather breaks in quickly enough. I am very happy with my choice, for aesthetic and practical reasons. But my next, lighter pair might be 10”

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bean Boot Used the boots for the first time during and after a big snowstorm. The boots are comfortable and I have owned man boots that have gone where they belong... in the trash. The Bean boot is well made and I hope that they will give me many years of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE WORLD’S BEST BOOT I moved to Chicago from Phoenix, Arizona 9 years ago. After my first winter here I was on the hunt for the best winter boot, and I found it! I’ve had these boots for 8 years they still look and feel and function perfectly! They are so warm and sturdy (while allowing you enough flexibility to not trip in 10 inch deep piles of slush on the road). I don’t even wear socks with these bad boys. That’s right- bare feet in my shearling-lined cocoons of perfection. If I lost these boots- I’d pay 3x whatever they’re asking to buy them again. Buy these boots. You’re welcome.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from shearling boots I have had these boots for two seasons now. they keep your feet warm but that's it. these boots were not designed for walking in the outdoors or anywhere else for that matter. there is no support. my feet were fatigued in about an hour. If you are an avid Outdoors person I would seriously reconsider purchasing these boots. These boots are not cheap, i believe you can find better value elsewhere. Also the soles are notorious for lacking traction. My girlfriend had to walk cautiously in hers while hiking a small mountain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Footwear I received my shearling lined boots last week and have walked approximately twenty-one miles with temperatures ranging from 32F to -4F over the last seven days. I wear size 10.5 medium width so I ordered a size 9 medium width as recommended. I also ordered a set of insoles for extra warmth, however the extra insoles made the boot overly snug and slightly uncomfortable. After removing the insoles, the boots fit perfectly with a medium weight winter sock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hubby loved them! My husband is very particular about everything. I bought these for him to replace his 12 yo goretex Bean boots. He said the fit was good, they’re very warm & he’d recommend them! He usually wears a size 12-1/2-13 & the 12 fit him perfectly.
