Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bean 16 inch boots Great boots wore a pair of 12 inch for years. Always wanted a pair of 16 inch so I finally bought a pair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Great traction. Can feel everything underfoot. Can move silently with these boots. Warm enough while moving with wool socks. Maybe not the greatest for the deer stand but my new favorite for moving through the woods.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A trusted old work friend. I have been an ecologist delineating wetlands and streams in Washington State for nearly thirty years. I bought a pair of 16" boots in 2000 because standard chore boots (especially vinyl) are way too narrow for my 3E foot and they provide little support on challenging terrain. I put on the Bean boots and loved them from the first step. My work involves walking on saturated muddy or mucky soils. The boots were water resistant enough for wet soils but sometimes leaked when stepping through ponded water or crossing streams. Getting wet was part of the work. Besides, vinyl or neoprene boots have a limited lifetime when walking through the Pacific Northwest blackberry thickets. The leather Bean boot never ripped or developed holes. And the getting wet part? I always carry a spare pair of socks that I can change into. Now, after 24 years of pushing through blackberry brambles and slogging through wet soils with my Bean boots, the stitching has given out where the leather attaches to the rubber. The leather, itself, is dry and cracked in places. I am approaching the end of my career in the field. I don't need another pair of 16" Bean Boots for field work, but I am going to purchase a replacement pair nonetheless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still, my favorite boots, after 32 years… My boyfriend at the time introduced me to the Maine Hunting Shoe, in New York City, Winter/1992. I had never seen snow before and walking on the icy streets without tripping or falling was quite impossible, until he got me a pair of the 16” tall boots. There was traction on the sole, I tucked in my Levi’s in the boots and the boots gave me the traction I needed and kept me warm, as well. I took the boots straight from the box it had arrived and it was comfortable from the moment I put them on. No need to break them in. These bought are beautifully crafted with the best rubber & leather. I still have my very first pair, which has been resole once!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice work Gordon! I will wear these Bean Boots around my homestead in the high desert of Arizona. The top comes to just below my knee and will offer comfortable protection against brush and snakes. I’m retiring off-grid on 40 acres and will wear them much of the year. I hope to post some photos later of my boots in their natural habitat.wear 8 1/2 women’s shoe and ordered a 7 men’s. Fit is perfect. Bravo! Bravo! to my craftsman Gordon. Thank you for your careful, beautiful work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent hunting boots I’ve had a pair or multiple pairs of bean boots since I was 12-14 and 53 now. By far my favorite hunting boots. You can feel sticks under your feet and not break them. They are about as close to Indian moccasins as you can get in a water proof boot. Just make sure you use snow seal on them every year. You can walk almost silent in these boots and still be comfortable. No popping or noise as with the other brand rubber boots. If you are a stalk hunter or turkey hunter these boots are the best by far. Love some LL Bean boots. Make sure you get the hunting boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most practicable outdoor footwear available I have used the Maine Hunting shoe as my standard gear for outdoor activity in the mountains since the late 1980's. They last a long time, are comfortable but most of all, protect my feet in al weather conditions. Everyone that rides horses in the backcountry should own a pair of these~!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Owned since mid 80s I purchased two pairs of these boots( the tall ones) in 86! They were a G_d send in the AK bush where we homesteaded(a pair for me and one for my love, the future mother of my child) a beautiful valley surrounded by tall mountains. However there exists miles of muskeg bog and these were perfect for spring through fall! Not cold weather boots but perfect for the warm months between! I highly recommend both these boots and the speed lace hooks! Do also purchase the wool insoles! Thank you so very much, thinking of purchasing another pair!!! I would prefer 18- 20 in tall to the 16in but I'll take what I can get!!! Excellent product!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect tall boots Perfect for that early spring turkey hunt where you may need a tall boot for protection. Certainly great for summer treks when the snakes are out and moving in woods. Sturdy, we'll built but comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Traditional Style Boots Bought these for the traditional style that they represent. Nice pebble grain leather tops are a little more supple to hug your leg/calves. Previous reviews have stated that the leather laces are too short to lace up to the top. Not so. Mine came with 84" long laces. More than enough to lace all the way up. Soles appear to be more flexible on this model. Don't know if they have the steel shank in these or not. Overall typical L.L Bean quality. Have other Bean boots in size 8, but got these in size 9 so I could wear much thicker socks for fall/winter weather. Also added thermal insoles. Consider putting some sort of beeswax dressing on the seams where the leather and rubber are sewn to help keep water out. Great American made product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product This is 4th pair I have purchased, plus several "re-treads". They are great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from By the best, and you will never be disappointed The best hunting boot ever made was 40 years ago when I bought my first pair, and now my second pair in the later stages of life. True to size when you follow L.L. Bean guidance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This will be my sixth pair with four "retreads" Have used these 16 inch boots for over 40 years. This includes four retreads. I am retired and do lots of quail hunting in the Carolinas. Our season is a little over 3 months and I hunt 3-4 days a week in lots of thickets and wet ground. These boots are well worth the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Where’s the 16-inch shearling-lined version? I received these boots for Christmas and they seem like they’ll be excellent winter boots for walking around the city, but I would appreciate a shearling-lined 16” version for those truly miserable winter todays.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing Bought these for my son. Day 1 they leaked at the seam between upper and boot. Got them replaced. Still leak. told they are not waterproof. who cares if they have a Waterproof lower and waterproof upper if the seam between the two is not waterproof. Essentially the 16 inch boot is only is only waterproof to the seam between the rubber and leather , so 3 inches.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hunting boots? Nice traditional looking boots. This boot should come with hooks for laces on the upper 1/2 of the boots. Also a good vibram sole would improve traction. Leather uppers offer great protection for busting brush but need care. Buy a good leather treatment. Also sealskinz knee socks will keep your feet warm & dry. Nice boots for fall hunting. But for the price their are better options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boots Exactly what I expected from Ll Bean boots , they’re very very quiet in the woods , they fit exactly like the description says and will certainly keep your feet dry , The laces could’ve been a foot longer in my opinion

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Hampshire Great boot. Only worn them in the woods twice so far . Very comfortable and great fit. Only thing i would say that would be an improvement is longer laces would make things a little easier. Have to unlace halfway down the boot to get on and off

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 20 year review, almost After almost 20 years, they are still going strong! I really almost only ever wear them while hunting. After 10 seasons in Montana and 9 1/2 seasons in Mississippi, they need a new set of bottoms. The heel is mostly worn and the instep is half worn. They fit right from the first time that I put them on and still fit right today. The leather has now the perfect scuffed, faded, patina. After hunting season ends, they’ll be headed to Maine for some freshening-up. Have, do, and will continue to love them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot Great product made in Maine. These boots are extremely comfortable. I do suggest the thermal insole addition for comfort and warmth. Marino sock liner and Marino wool heavy outer sock gives this boot a warm and supportive feel. Can walk in these boots all da with no issues. I do wish these boots were 18" because of water, but they are still great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fell in Love I bought these for hunting and rustic camping footwear and fell in love out the gate. I can sneak thru the woods as if I'm wearing moccasins. I can feel the branches and twigs under my feet. They are water proof and with a litte extra care to the leather by adding a tallow coating they are even more so. Pair of wool socks and slow moving my feet stay nice and warm. They do take getting use to and they don't offer much ankle support and can take time to lace up. { I replaced factory laces with 550 cord } I would say that's the only problem i have is that factory laces are to short. I would love for ll bean to release a liner for these boots and they would be perfect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mens 16 inch Maine hunting shoe It says water proof but the second day I wore them I stepped in a shallow creek and felt the water come through the seem on my left boot
Date published: 2022-09-21
Rated 3 out of 5 by from I have grown to dislike these They have a lot of faults but the worst are that they take forever to put on and take off and the ankles collapse so they rub your ankle or heel.
