I LOVE this backpack!
This backpack is the best. It has plenty of room for all your stuff - it's quite spacious with lots of pockets to stash your stuff - but not bulky. The material is tough and durable. The straps and back of the pack are padded, which makes it quite comfortable. I like that it does not have chest or waist straps; they tend to get in the way. I was a little worried about the size - other reviews have stated that this pack is good for younger kids - but it actually fits perfectly (I'm 5'9"). The zippers are top notch. I love the color (dark purple). Basically this pack is great for anything - school, casual/every day use, light hiking. I use mine to cart my books and notebooks wherever I go. I love this backpack and hope it lasts a long time. Seeing that it's LLBean, I'm sure it will.

Not as nice in person
The colour looks completely different in person. In the photo, you have teal, pops of yellow, and even some light brown/tan tones. It reminds me of all the colours of a forest on a rainy day. In real life, it's so much green and yellow and is not what is advertised -- too much for a backpack imo. I barely wore it today and some threads are already lose. It doesn't feel like it has good support on the base, and lacking shoulder support too. Looks cute (wish the colour was what is seen in photo though), but idk if it's for me.
I do like the compartments, they seem to be smartly placed and practical. Idk how long this will last though, it doesn't seem too durable. :/

Poor quality
The top handle broke on the first day of school. I’m very disappointed with the quality of this bag.

Great Design; Just OK Size
This backpack is durable and has the features we were looking for. We don't care for the traditional style backpacks for school. Love this one, however they need to make a larger size. My sons love this style backpack for school but an XL version would be great. I read some reviews that mention bringing back the "locker backpack "....maybe that would be more what we need. We need room for Chromebooks and multiple 3 ring binders as well as notebooks, text books, and supplies.

Great School Backpack
So much room for all my daughter’s stuff and the water bottle holder is deep so it stays in place! She just started Kindergarten this year and this bag will be able to grow with her!

Poor quality
I’ve always loved their backpacks but the quality isn't what it used to be. Last year, the zipper broke 3 months into the year. I thought it was just my son being too hard on it. We bought this one a few weeks ago and the hook strap broke the second day of school.

Love! Great size! Sturdy and well made book-bag!
Large bag is roomy enough for lunchbox, school folder and books. Very roomy but not too big or heavy for our kiddo!

Well Made
This bag is well made (true to the L.L. Bean brand!) and has plenty of space for our middle schooler. She loves the color and and we see this lasting for years to come.

Durable! The only backpack your student will need
Best backpacks on the planet! Incredibly durable and a great value. My daughter has only had 2 backpacks from K thru 12rh grade...both were L.L. Bean. We only got the 2nd one for middle school because she wanted a solid color. Now she's off the college with a 3rd, slightly bigger L.L.Bean backpack.

Nice backpack- but not for school
This is a nice backpack. It looks to be durable. Stylish. However, the zipper openings don’t unzip that much. It’s not a wide opening. Therefore It’s a bit cumbersome, trying to fit in a large middle school binder. Once you get it past the limited opening it will fit, but you do have to struggle putting it in. It would be nice if the zippers went down a bit further, beyond the water bottle holders. If your child or even yourself is needing a backpack to put multiple larger items like a thick binder coupled with a laptop I would not recommend this backpack, to try the deluxe.

Pick a different backpack.
The quality of this backpack was very poor and we returned it. Everything felt flimsy and cheap zippers stuck, fabric and straps were too thin - certainly not something that would last many years or something that should carry the LL Bean name.

Never wear out
This is the third backpack we have purchased for our grandson since he started school. The backpacks are so sturdy and roomy that the only reason we purchased another was for a change of color. These are great!

So close!
Cons: A pack of this size really needs a chest strap, especially for young backs. Better yet a chest and waist strap. Also water bottle pockets are a bit small and shallow for today’s trends. The clip hooks on the front do provide a spot to clip a water bottle with a carabiner though, so that could be redemptive, just not streamlined.
Pros: aesthetics are great, good quality materials. and is a good pack in general, with plenty of pockets for sorting things. Stuff spot in the front is nice for a rain jacket or whatnot. Maybe not the best as a school pack (which is what I’d hoped it could be).

Great Colors; Save the child!
That poor little girl modeling this pack on the LLB site--like so many grade schoolers getting off the bus---looks like a turtle about to tip backwards! I'm 6 ft tall, 250 lbs, 72 yrs old, and it fits me! The good: The color combo--the blue and orange together with that luscious burnished brown gingerbread color on bottom and back is just great. What should have been: NO 32 litre pack should come without a sternum strap, nor without side compression straps! Side water bottle pockets should be higher/deeper. Bottom should be padded. Most of the pack's interior IS lined, which is a delightful surprise. Fun colors, fun pack. Tralala! Happy Trails...

Good value
Seems well-made and large enough for a high schooler. Plenty of organizational pockets. Cannot comment on durability as my son has only used for a few weeks but my daughter has been using a different LL Bean backpack for four years straight, overloads it, and it has held up well, so hoping for the same result.

Average bag
I feel like this bag is nothing special. By comparison to my last LLBean backpack, it’s a downgrade. The back doesn’t provide as much support, the front pockets are not sized well, and the places on the sides to hold water bottles seem to be smaller and the bottles fall out. Not sure I want to keep it.
