Poorly designed, surprising LLBean still sells it!
To get this swim dress on your hips have to pass through the narrowest section. This style has 2-layers: an inner layer that "fits" your body and the under the outer shell that hangs from opening at the top and seams half-way down the sides. The inner layer has a seam all around the torso where the fit is narrowest (above the belly button). This seam on MY SIZE 10 wast was 25" unstretched and at maximum stretch only 30".
The LLBean size chart didn't give a waist measurement for this style, but another style says a Size 10 'Fits natural waist measuring': 29-1/2" and 'Fits hip/seat': 39-1/2". Thus, the seam in the size 10 fully stretched would barely fit a "natural waist", let alone allow "natural hips" to pass through. Simply, I could not get the suit on! Huge disappointment.

I ordered my regular size and the design was awful ! It took 10 minutes to get it on ! Not comfortable -

Coverage in the Right Places
I’m a 70-year-old lap swimmer but the suits I wear for exercise don’t have enough “butt” coverage for the beach. This suit does the job and fits securely enough to withstand the waves. It’s heavier than the typical suit and when I first tried it on I thought the extra fabric might be annoying but once I got into the water it felt fine. No more tugging at the back of my suit to cover up. I want to help others determine their size. I am 5’3”, weigh 103, and am 30DD.

Love this. My only issue is the underarm puff which even as a skinny 64 year old annoys me. Keep in mind that bathing suit sizes are SO different than clothing sizes, I had to go up two sizes from what I typically wear in Bean clothes. Would have loved to see this in different colors.

Well-made
This is a well-made swim suit, but it's for someone else. I swim laps five days a week, and it felt heavy. Also, I felt as though the suit was too "much" for my height. I also thought that the suit runs larger than my ancient and much-loved LL Bean halter suit.

Disappointing
I was really looking forward to wearing this pretty swimsuit, but when I tried it on, it was incredibly hard to get over my hips, then it was tight and uncomfortable on top! I ordering my regular size, but this swimsuit felt two sizes(at least) too small. I don't know what type of fitting model they used, but I would suggest they use a different one next time.

Best one-piece swimsuit I've found!
This swimsuit is exactly what I've been looking for. I love that it has shorts under the skirt, and the cut is really cute! I'm an athletic build with broader shoulders and an A cup chest, and the top fits me really well. I was dubious at first since the built-in cups seemed huge, but they look fine, and the fit is good - no gapping or anything. I have a long torso and it can be hard to find one-piece suits that fit me, but this one is perfect! I originally purchased the size 10, but it was far too tight. The 12 fits perfectly. I wear a Medium in other L. L. Bean products. I look forward to wearing this in the pool all summer!

Beautiful suit but I can't get it on!
I purchased this bathing suit thinking it would be perfect for me. I weigh 122 pounds and am 5'4" and purchased a size 8. I could not get the suit over my hips! I know it would fit me if I could just get it on! The shirring is great, but the binding at the shirring is lined with what seems like heavy-duty plastic strips ... very hard with no stretch. I have returned my purchase and was thinking of buying a bigger size, but I know that the top would be too big ... and maybe the bottom would be too big, too. I wish there was a way to release the shirring while putting the suit on ... and then zipping it back in place.
