Disappointing. Could have been great.
I received this shirt in classic navy for Christmas. The first time I wore it I loved it. Love the feel of the fabric. Once I wore it and washed it a couple of times however, I became very disappointed. The length of the shirt is on the shorter side, and after a couple washes, I can barely tuck it into a pair of pants because the length has shrunk. It feels like LL Bean was trying to save a few bucks on material, and it’s a big fail in my book. Also if you use anything on your face with Benzoyl peroxide, the green collar will change to a blotchy orange color, so the shirt is essentially ruined because the green color does not hold up against benzoyl peroxide. I would not buy again.

Shirt is OK quality wise, but the shirt body is shorter than it should be, so it un-tucks itself fairly easily, and it has these funky white "elbow patches" on the sleeves that look wierd. Should have returned it, but I didn't. Wouldn't order another one, though.

The 80’s called but they can’t have it back!
Very comfortable casual shirt. Material is soft and mid-weight so warm but can still wear indoors. I got a few jabs about the 80’s calling and wanting their shirt back, but saw two of them wearing another color of same shirt recently. If my 80’s rugby shirt was this comfortable I would have still been wearing them.

No tapered or slim fit
Hello I ordered either a slim or a tapered fit shirt. When I tried this on, the bottom half was very loose fitting and a terrible fit. I am a fairly slim athletic build and this shirt did not look well at all. Thanks you for your enquiry. Tom

Pretty thin gruel - do better
Returned it. Thin !!!! Rugby shirt fabric gets more anemic every year ! C'Mon Beans - make it like you used to make it even 10 yrs ago. I don't play rugby, but if I did, this would be a tear away game shirt !

As always, a classy Bean's produce
I bought this shirt last month and wore it during a trip to New York City last week. Temperatures were in the upper 50s to upper 60s.
Maybe Bean's could improve on this winner - I can't imagine how,

I tried this in store and it felt great but noticed the tag said "xl - reg" which would imply there is a "xl - tall" somewhere.. wrong. The store doesn't offer tall and neither does online. SO LAME

Nice material, too short
I have been waiting for Bean to bring back the old-style heavy rugby shirts so I gave these a try. The material is nice and soft but it's 3 inches shorter than other Bean shirts in the same size, so it rides up as you move. It's more comfortable than the rugby shirts of a few years ago where the fabric were pieces sewn together in stripes which were somewhat rough. If you like shirts short and soft you'll like this.
