Product Details

Our legendary boot - beautifully crafted in buttery-soft, gently tumbled leather in an easy-to-wear Chelsea design.

  • For this style, we recommend you order a full size down from your regular shoe size. For example, if you normally wear a size 9, order a size 8.

Whoever says, "they don't build things like they used to," doesn't own a pair of these. Our iconic boots are still sewn right here in Maine  one pair at a time  by expert craftspeople whose technical skills and passion for their work is evident in every pair they make. As rugged and hardworking as they were over 100 years ago, chances are you'll only ever need one pair.

  • Waterproof rubber boot bottom keeps feet dry.
  • Legendary chain-tread outsole gives reliable traction.
  • Iconic triple-needle stitching provides long-lasting durability.
  • Premium full-grain leather upper is gently tumbled for a remarkably soft, broken-in feel.
  • Uniquely shaped foot form offers comfort and stability, and a steel shank adds support.
  • Pull-on loop and stretchy goring provide easy on/off (goring not waterproof).
  • Best for rain, mud and other wet conditions.
  • Not designed to stay submerged in water.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible fit Horrible fit, opening is so large it’s as though they designed it to fall off your foot. Go buy Sorels and save your time and shipping fees.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice concept but poor execution My experience with the Bean Chelsea boot is to only go down a 1/2 size from what you would normally wear if you wear a wide (EE) shoe. A full size down is too narrow at the ball of the foot, although the heal width is fine. If these boots came in wide width a full size down would have provided an excellent fit (the lace up Bean boots fit perfect in my normal wide width size). A Chelsea style shoe should fit like a pair of western boots with about 1/8 inch heal slip. The heal slip in these boots is far greater than that. They fit more like a pair of slippers than a Chelsea boot. Maybe providing wide sizes would help this. The width and length of the elastic upper opening doesn't help with the fit either, it is way too big. If you are looking for a pair of boots to wear like slippers for quick excursions outside, these are great. Anything more than that, such as real yard work, hiking, farm work, etc.) these may not the boot for you as the fit is too sloppy, at least for a wide width foot.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too lose on the heel. Great boot but the opening is so wide it’s very lose on the heel. Heel slips when I walk. Length was good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst ever Does not stay on. The ankle area is too wide and made for an elephant. Dangerous. Can break your ankle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Several seasons and 15 years these boots held up! I had a pair of these for 15 years and they were great for most kind of weather but finally the stiches came out and soles got slippery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They do the job I wanted a wet-weather boot that pulled on easily without laces like my others. These boots have worked out well for that purpose. They run very large. I ended up buying a 9 1/2 when my normal size is 11 1/2 to 12 1/2 depending on the shoe and use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Me Just what I wanted, a slip on boot that is perfect for going out for the paper in the snowy weather. Not insulated, so t's not for cold hikes, but perfect for quick in and outs. Runs a little large, so consider a half or full size smaller.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from THE BOOT WITH A LOOK! BEFORE YOU BUY MAKE SURE YOU DO GO DOWN A SIZE ITS A GREAT LOOKING BOOT I LIKE THAT YOU CAN JUST SLIP THEM ON AND GO!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and great flexibility Comfortable all day with easy on/off flexibility. Great for wearing all day or the quick walk out to feed the deer and birds. Exactly what I was looking for in a boot for moderate snow depth and of course the LL Bean quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beanie boot Not the boot I remember. Runs large. Should have returned.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a great design Ankle is very loose, odd style and didn’t feel like they would be secure on my feet
Date published: 2025-01-24
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sizing of Bean Boots Buyer beware. If you have a narrow foot be prepared to wear heavy/extra heavy socks, even then you will experience heal slip. The boots are of excellent quality but LL Bean needs to go back to the original narrow sizing offers of the original Bean Boot, as not everyone has feet classified as wide or extra wide.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice boot accept for the loose heel. The boot fit ok being a half size smaller than my normal 9 1/2. The only issue I have is that the heel does not fit snug in the boot. It is loose and slides up and down while walking causing the boot heel to drop and drag each step.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No ankle support Echoing everyone’s sentiments about how loose the boots are at the ankle. There’s no purpose for the elastic material because it’s so loose. I ended up returning.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sloppy wideth the lenght was good but the wideth was sloppy. The color and design was nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I hoped for this is my second pair and I love them I still might have new bottoms put on my old ones
Date published: 2025-01-07
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wear like slippers Perhaps I bought the wrong size or wrong item but these feel very loose. As I walk my heel rises rubbing the inside of the boot. Otherwise the boots are nice and well made.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sizing even buying one size smaller than regular shoes as suggested they are still a bit loose.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sad fit and support. Fit was not good, very poor support around ankle. So sad, I loved this type of boot from llbean for years.
Date published: 2025-01-01
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Large sizing I ordered a size down than normal shoe size. The boot is way too big. Going to send back and try boot 2 sizes down

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice boot but be careful of the size It is a great boot to slip into quickly but runs big and loose on size. I normally wear a 9 ½ or 10. I returned one pair of 9’s that were just too loose, and now have a size 8. They still slip a bit in the heel, but they now feel good to wear. And there is still room for heavy socks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good idea, poor execution My wife bought these for me for Christmas and I was excited because I'd been wanting a pair of waterproof boots/shoes that I could slip on when I needed to go outside in wet or cold weather to take out the trash or check the mail. Unfortunately, the fit on these boots is so horrendous they're going back. She followed the sizing guidance and got a full size smaller, and the lower fits well enough, but the upper is so sloppy it's difficult to walk even a short distance in them. Would not recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible fit I’m usually an 11, so I ordered a size 10 for these at first, still too big so I ordered a 9. These boots fit terrible. Length is right but the fit on the heel and ankle doesn’t exist. For my foot they are impossible to walk in, I don’t understand why they make these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My new Chelsea men's boots I take a size 12 shoe and purchased these in size 11 as instructed to do....one size below my shoe size. They are OK but still a little loose. I prefer a shoe/boot that "fits like a glove". They are also rather poorly padded. Their grip on snow and even some ice is outstanding however, and they are very easy to slip on and off. I would purchase them again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Floppy on foot My husband is usually a 12-13 shoe. I bought him the 13 Chelsea. He has a wide foot so I usually buy a 13 in boots. This was incredibly floppy around the top. The shape did not keep, it just looked awful. They had to go back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent boot - size down 1 I absolutely love these boots! They are so comfortable, warm and convenient! Like my Bean Boots in lace up, they run a FULL SIZE BIG, so size yourself accordingly. Also, last year before I got them, I read a few reviews that people were saying even after they got proper size, they didn't like them for hiking, etc. This boot is not designed for that, if you want to use your new boots for hiking, get one of the lace up models. These boots are made for convenience of having NO laces and highly waterproof. So - I wear them when going dirt biking and mtn biking where I will be changing into ride boots or shoes. They come on and off so easy when changing shoes/boots and are the perfect footwear for when washing the bike after the ride. Before you put the hose away, give the boots a spray off and you are good to go! Plus the green color rocks!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stop Making the 6.5" Chelsea Boot LL Bean should discontinue this slip-on boot because it is an ill-fitting design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot for Winter Wear I bought this boot for casual winter weather. It is cool in blue and matches my jeans. It does run big so ensure you order a full size down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic slip on boots. Perfect to slip on to take the dogs out, head into the garden or into town to run rainy or snowy day errands.
