Strange Fit
As other reviewers have said, the waist band on these shorts is ridiculously tight. The rest of the short was fine - this was the XS. I bought a different color in the small- but these were too loose everywhere besides the waistband.

Pretty teal color. Hard to pull on because the waist band is small. So once I get the waistband past my hips, they are good.

A Little Snug
I bought these along with the Vista Camp shorts a month ago thinking they would be the same fit - they are not. The Tropicwear Shorts fit a little bit snug and rid up in the crotch area. The material feel wonderful though. I would defiantly order them again, just size up.

Great material, poor fit
The material of the shorts are of high quality but the fit is poor. I ordered the white shorts and it accentuates my lower stomach pouch. Many have recommended to size up but I decided against that because the back of the shirt in my size was already borderline baggy. A larger size wouldn’t have helped the overall fit.

Beautiful Color and quality shorts
I purchased this in the blue and really liked the quality and the fit. The problem is I am 66 years old - wanted this for tennis. The shorts are a bit too short for my older body (even though I am 5'4" and 125 lbs. But I really liked the style and the quality. I purchased a medium and the fit was really good.

BEST HIKING SHORTS. EVER
I found these shorts in the flagship store in Freeport, Me. My husband was walking around the fishing section and I just started looking at clothing items. I don't know why they are being touted as shorts for fishing, but the lightweight, water-repellent material makes them great for hiking. The fabric is AMAZING. The fit was great and the inseam is long enough so that the fabric isn't riding up on you - important when hiking. Two deep front pockets allows me to keep my phone in my pocket without danger of it slipping out. I used them every day for hiking in Maine and liked them so much, ordered two more pair for upcoming hiking trips in New Hampshire. We just returned from New Hampshire and I wore the shorts every day we hiked. They cleaned up quickly in the wash and only a 5-minute (low heat) toss in the dryer. I didn't dry them completely in the dryer as the label recommends air drying and NO ironing. They held up on every hike. I hiked for two full weeks using these shorts and they are holding their shape and cleaning up well. I wish they came in a few other colors, but I did buy 2 pair of the pewter and 1 of the blue. I know I'll be using these shorts for a long time. Thank you LL Bean for the quality of these shorts.

Great shorts
Often LLB petite xs is too big for me. These xsregular fit fine so I guess they do run small. I like the fabric, and the smooth waist. Also, they are not too short so I feel comfortable wearing them on errands.

Cool and comfy
Purchased these shorts for a summer camp in NC, wanting something cool and comfortable and these shorts lived up to my expectations. They breathe well, are stretchy and not see through (I bought the cream color). They fit well and my only “complaint” is that I wish the back pockets didn’t have Velcro. Overall very pleased with them.

Fit is off, color and fabric great
The color and fabric were awesome, but the fit not so much. I had a really hard time getting them on and up and over my hips. My measurements are 29" waist and 39" hips. I ordered a Medium. Sent them back.

stretchy comfort!
I was looking for a pair of 5" inseam shorts with real pockets (not those silly half pockets), and these fulfill that need. The fabric is soft and very stretchy. The waistband is wide, smooth, and secure (the attached drawstring will not be needed). The slash side pockets are deep and useful -- more useful than the phone pocket, which I don't think is deep enough to keep the phone securely, but I can fit my phone in the side or back pockets, so no problem there. The off-white color goes with everything; it might be a touch see-through, but I tried wearing with colorful underwear and couldn't see them, so I'm no longer concerned. I ordered my regular size, and I don't have any problem with the fit, but I think I can see why people are recommending to size up. The waist is very expandable but may be to constricting for some people with the normal size. I liked them enough to order the only other color available, despite the high price. I'd love more color choices!

Great shorts, but size up!
Comfortable shorts and great quality material as you would expect from LL Bean. They do run small. Typically wear M in LL Bean bottoms, but these were very tight in the waist and seat. Had to size up to L and they fit much better.

Great new short
These shorts are insanely comfortable. They are advertised as for fishing, but I wear them around the house and to do chores in the yard, although they are perfectly wearable out in public (I just tend to wear longer shorts in public unless I am working out). The waistband is perfect; it holds the shorts up but doesn't bind or irritate in any way; it has an internal drawstring but I don't use it. The pockets are surprisingly useful; the small second pocket on the right is larger than it looks and there are two pockets in the back; these three pockets close with velcro. There are also two side pockets that do not close. The fabric does not wrinkle, is smooth and very cool. The shorts feel like you are wearing air. If they had a liner, they would be a perfect running short as well. Finally, I think that they are cute on - not too baggy and not too tight.
