Don’t waste your money
Horrible do not buy. Poor quality cover sizing / stitching and does not fit the weird design frame.

Poor quality
My wife and I were excited to use this kennel for our camping trips.
Unfortunately, it ripped the first time we used it. Our dog chewed right through the front cover. Very disappointed.

Snowshow =/= flip flop
Don't believe the negative reviews; those folks are mad that they bought a pair of sandals that suck for hiking in the snow. These crates are easy to transport, tank where they need to be, a decent value at full price but often half-off (!) on llbean.com, and sized in a nice mid-point for both of my over-50lb and under-50lb dogs. Buy when you can, use it for the house AND for travel.

Heavy and support poles do not lock. Can collapse
The Material is extremely durable and high quality. However the travel crate is very heavy and the support poles that you push up to lock, do NOT lock. I have tried to get them to lock by using my body to push them up and into position to no avail. I have had other travel fabric crates that are lightweight and perform much better. I do not feel my dog would be safe as the crate can collapse in on itself and the dog.

Not the best design
I liked the size of this crate, but the construction and sturdiness are lacking. I think the canvas was installed backwards. I was able to remove it and turn it around so that the mesh was at the entry door. The mat on the floor inside is great, except that it is secured to the side bars with velcro. My dog chewed the pieces off and now the side bars are exposed. This may be a safety issue since he could get his paws caught. He also managed to tear holes in the mesh while he was wearing a cone following his neutering. I'm not excusing my dog's destructive behavior (he's a puppy) but I have had other canvas crates that held up to a puppy's antics.

Heavy duty dog crate
This crate seems nice but lacking a few features from other soft crates. I’ve had all types of crates. For some reason they put it together backwards. What should be the door has a bar halfway up so the dog goes in the other side where there is no viewing screen. My remedy is to take the cover off and put it on the other side so dog can see out the front. There is no way to open the screens. The zippers only unzip the top canvas. I usually give my dogs treats thru the top or side zippers. Can’t do it with this crate. It does lack air circulation compared to other crates. My dog seemed very warm after laying in it in an air conditioned room. There is only one small pocket to put supplies in. My other crates had 2 large zippered bags that attach. I do believe without testing yet that my small dog who has torn up or escaped from other crates with larger mesh holes. My biggest concern is how warm my dog was, will I have to take a fan now to go to events? Otherwise I’m pretty happy with it.

The best soft travel crate we have found
We like this crate. Our dog likes this crate. The zippers are of a decent quality. The seams appear to be well constructed. We usually travel with all of the flaps open, and there is adequate air flow. The placement of the bar across the opening is not a problem for us. We position the crate facing forward in my wife's vehicle with the flap open. The dog enters the crate from the rear and the bar is not a concern. There were no instructions provided. We would have preferred some. The crate is larger than we would have preferred. Our dog is a 30 pound English Cocker Spaniel and this crate is much larger than necessary.

Happy Dog, happy mom
Really happy with this. We purchased this for an upcoming road trip and love the weight and collapsibility. Set it up inside for Hank to make friends with, it didn’t take long! Well made.

Sturdy crate
We purchased this crate to replace an older one. Shipping time was very quick! The crate expands easily, however, as mentioned by another reviewer the locks that prevent the crate from collapsing are hard to engage. Once in the locks are in place the crate seems quite sturdy. As it comes, the opening with the window is on the end of the crate with the horizontal lock-bar. So we took advice from another review and removed the shell and flipped the openings so that the windowed opening is on the crate's unobstructed end. Our 3 dogs and even the cat checked it out during the trail set up. We're looking forward to traveling with this crate in a few months!

Lightweight, but very sturdy. Lots of ventilation.
Very compact when collapsed, not hard to pull into position but locking and unlocking the frame requires a strong hand (actually, this is sort of a plus as it won't suddenly collapse on the doggies ;). Easy to tuck into the car for traveling.

Very useful
I have a number of crates and this one is the easiest to use when camping or traveling. I took the top off and turned it around so the door in the front is the one with the vent and that helped quite a bit.

Bad design
Bulky and doesn't have enough mesh windows for a dog to be comfortable with good airflow. Also where the entrance should be has a big bar across it, so the dog needs to enter through the back? Not a good design. Also the metal infrastructure doesn't lock into place. Returned it immediately and bought a really nice equivalent from Petco.

Very well made but disappointed with door
It's well made and sturdy but the door shown in the front with a window is actually in the back where the bracing is. I used it at a show this past weekend at a dog show and the dog crates were butted up next to each other and against the wall so there was no ventilation. It would be perfect if the window was actually in the front door as shown.
I had to leave it partly unzipped (not secure) since it was hot and airflow was needed.

Huge
This seemed like a decent dog crate to travel with if your dog is HUGE. We read the specs but underestimated the actual size. It seems fairly sturdy and decently made, but it is too big for most travel. Both ends have a door, yet one is basically useless as there is a crossbar at the locks that helps to open and even close the crate down. That is nice, but as I said, it makes that door useless. The windows are a nice touch, however, I can see them being easily destroyed by a dog pawing at it. The doors are difficult to zip back up unless the tension is off of it (by pulling the sides in as if to fold it back up). I think it’s a great concept, however it is too large. Would be nice to come in sizes. Unfortunately we returned it.

Perfect Shelter
I have purchased items from LL Bean since 1992 and still use them daily when in season. Maybe emergency shelters for people might be a valuable family resource in emergency situation.
