Strange fit
I love the weight and feel of these pants. Perfect length. But the fit is very strange! No give in the rear and huge jodhpur-like fit in the hips. So disappointing. Returning these.

Perfect size, material, and design
I selected petite small that fits me much better than petite medium (the measurement chart preferred). I like the material that would be perfect for my African trip. The pockets are sufficient and large enough for cellphone and purse. I hope this feeling remains the same after visiting Africa.

Not enough cargo pockets.
The one criticism I have is that there is only one lower pocket, which is on the right leg. It would be better if there were two. Some people would find a cargo pocket on the left more useful, or may need one on both sides.

Disappointed
The front pockets design creat a “larger hips” look when I got a size tight enough to fit me. Just didn’t feel like the design hung well on my body.
Liked the color a lot, the lightweight material it’s made from and the extra pockets.

Nice for Hiking in Warm Temperatures
These pants are of a lightweight fabric which is nice for summer hiking. I prefer pants due to the high number of ticks I have encountered (everywhere). The added elastic in the waist is nice if you prefer not to wear the belt (removable). The pants are a tad on the short side and there are no deep pockets for cell phones that is why one star less.

Good and not so good
It's not hard to notice the wide variance in the reviews of these pants, and I can report both sides myself, as I ordered both the gray and tan versions. The tan fit fine, but the gray in the same size were too large with saddlebag hips. It has made me wonder whether quality control is part of the reason that the reviews are so varied. I can also report that the belt on both pairs was much too long, as if for the next size up. I am returning the gray pants.

Perfect for sightseeing
I bought a pair of these pants in blue, thinking they'd be perfect for an August cruise to SE Alaska. I wanted pants I could spot clean and wear numerous times, meaning I'd need to pack fewer jeans. (Clothes are heavy!). Package came. I tried on the pants. Walked straight to my computer and bought a second pair. AND I told a friend who will be on the same cruise that she had to buy them. The pants come in sand (light khaki), light gray and a medium blue which is a welcome change from black (not an option for these pants). The belt is a nice touch too. If you are trying to save weight in your suitcase, you need these pants!

They were great! Why the change?
I have three pairs of the previous style of these pants. Zipper pockets on both thighs. Deep front pockets and rear pockets. Comfortable waist. THEN, a new version, a change. Fewer pockets. Poor fit! SO disappointing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bizarre shape!!
As others have remarked, these pants have a very strange shape. The waste is fitted but the hips are enormous! These are XS, I usually wear a size 4. When I put these on, the waste was fine, but there was an extra 2" of fabric on both sides of my hips! Crazy!! If you have a really large bottom compared to your waste, they might work, but otherwise, you're making a mistake.

A redesign flop
The redesign of these pants made them much less comfortable and less useful. The waist is lower, and the pockets aren’t as deep or fastened in a way which is less noticeable. The material is also thicker and doesn’t dry as quickly. There’s no elastic in the waistband as there was. The LL Bean logo on the back stands out too much since it is gray against the blue of the pants. The zippered pockets on the rear of the pants are off. I have 4 pairs of the gray tropic wear pants and was looking forward to adding blue ones for travel, but I will be sending these back. I’m sorry they were redesigned and have noticed in reviews that others feel the same way.

Not like previous tropic weight pants
I liked the fabric and shade of gray. Pants had too much material between pockets and side seams like 1950’s jodhpurs. Size petite x-small. I returned the pants as I thought they might have been defective In construction. I have two pairs of older tropic weight pants that are wonderful. I also wear comfort trail pants and capris.

Hey, Bean! Please listen!!
I've had several pairs of these pants over the years and would certainly like a new pair or two.... BUT - I want a pant that comes up to my waist and really want the cargo pockets on both sides as my older pants have. These pants really helped me during the COVID days, as I could safely secure my wallet and other valuables in my pockets while distracted due to wearing those masks. I need a new pair! PLEASE give us some pants that are hot weather cool, yet come up to above the navel! Don't forget nice, deep zipped cargo pockets on BOTH sides! Thanks!!

Nice pants but too short waited for my taste

Pants have very strange shape, wide in the thighs, narrow at the knees. Fabric is stiff and rather heavy, would not like to wear on a hot day. Have tons of clothes from Beans that I love, this is not one of them.

Length of Pants Not Accurate
I bought these pants & tried them on and the pant length hit my ankles. I am not that tall. I measured the inseam and the inseam was only 28 inches (regular length) though the regular length is stated to be at 30 inches. No way!! I tried two different pants (same type) two colors and they both were 28 inches. Back they go.;

Great fitting and good looking pant.
This pant is just what I was looking for as I'm going to Kenya in a few weeks and needed a lightweight, durable, well fitting pant. The fabric is really nice. I'm so happy that it came in petite which turned out to be the perfect length. Fits true to size.

Acceptable but not great
After exchanging for the longer length, I must agree with the comments about the bagginess in the pocket area. I managed to tailor them a bit, to reduce that generous cut and they are acceptable. If there was a better alternative out there, I might have returned them, but I haven’t found one.
