Our original SunSmart™ apparel, Tropicwear was first introduced in 1992 to protect destination anglers from the hot tropical sun. Customers quickly discovered Tropicwear wasn't just for fishing, using it for just about anything outdoors. It's been updated with a better fit, new stretch woven fabric that's softer and better ventilation. Best of all, Tropicwear still provides UPF 50+ sun protection, or about 10 times more than a white cotton tee.

Still a nice shirt
Every time I buy these shirts they've changed. Overall still nice shirts, but…changes I don't care for - they’re thinner,
no longer have a straight hem, and the worst change is the big garrish branding on the front. Why do this? It ruined an otherwise nice shirt. I won’t buy one again for that reason alone.

Nice Shirt!
I love the shirt. Nice colors. Light weight. The sunglass cleaning cloth was a nice touch, I guess, but really too small to be useful and there is a zippered pocket in the back of the shirt. I was told that it is used when fishing. Since I don’t fish, I have no idea how I could use this pocket.🤷♀️

Fat but active
Excellent shirt, true to size and fits perfectly. Carefree, wash in a hotel sink, hang it up and dries overnight. My go-to shirt for travel to Scotland! I have every color in the plaid plus the solid turquoise. Wish you had the fish print in this long-sleeve shirt because I'd buy it in every color as well.

Fabulous shirt
I purchased 2 Tropicwear UV blocking long sleeve shirts and couldn't be happier. The details are extensive, the fabric is light and cool and the fit perfect. I'm so glad I ordered 2, the other is in Faded Jade, a beautiful color. I have to be very careful in the sun and these shirts will allow me some happy time outdoors. I just wish it didn't have the LL Bean logo over the pocket which dresses it down.

Finally, a shirt that fits!
Finally, women's shirts made for those who are taller than the average woman. The length in the arms and torso actually fit and I no longer need to purchase a regular in an XL! Love the quality. Wish there were more colors and styles available for tall.

Light and comfortable
I purchased this for a beach camping trip. Although it is long sleeved (it does have roll up sleeves), the fabric is light enough that I wasn’t hot despite temperatures in the 70s. Great sun protection for pale people like me! True to size. I ordered a tall only for extra coverage in the derrière.

Women’s Tropicwate Longsleeve Shirt
Love this short. It’s the 2nd one I’ve bought. I love using these shirts for outdoor activities and just going around tow. I use it as a lightweight jacket f from Spring thru Fall and as a beach cover up. Great for water activities. Dries fast.

Like style, not material
I have 2 “sun smart” shirts with UPF 50 that I purchased last summer. When looking this year to get another the small petites were sold out so I hoped this “Tropic Wear” shirt would be similar. I find the material seems heavier & the venting material in the back makes me feels to warm where the “Sun Smart” shirts are light & breezy.

Cool and protective from the sun.
I am a small woman and this shirt fit me well. It is cool on a hot day with all the vents and made very well. Even the collar is small and not sloppy. The length might be a tad long but it still deserves 5 stars.

Runs very LARGE
It was a lovely shirt. Nice color, nice fabric, well made. It was also HUGE. The shoulders were way too broad, the sleeves much too long and the body several inches too wide (I could grab several inches on each side while trying it on). It was supposed to be a ladies size small. Not even close. Unfortunately, it had to go back.

Horrible design
I purchased the blue plaid shirt in Petite Small. I was excited that LL Bean finally offered a plaid shirt for petites, but that excitement ended when I tried it on. It’s horrible. The blue plaid is very nice, but the vertical vents on the back don’t stay in place; they stick way out from the back. It’s a very unflattering look. Perhaps it works for someone who fishes. I do not. I simply wanted sun protection. I wish this fabric was offered in the Tropicwear shirt. Sadly, there’s only one size left among all the colors of the Tropicwear shirt. Is LL Bean discontinuing that shirt in petites. I certainly hope not.

Sun protection plus fits
I’m wearing it now, after 2 washings. So far, all is good with this shirt. I’m happy it fits, with just a little wiggle room. I’m 5’4” 153 lbs, large busted, and am over the top that this shirt fits perfectly, even falling evenly at the hem and not overly long. Quality seems good. I also have the pink one and it does not disappoint either.

I was particularly pleased with the lighter weight of this shirt; it will be cooler than past styles. The prevalence of many pockets is beneficial for walking. The best features are the SPF rating and roll-up sleeves.

vertical back caping ruins styling
I have many Tropicwear shirts similar to this. But the new vertical back caping (which replaces the original horizontal back caping) ruins the styling for me. For full-breasted women, a tighter fit in the chest causes the vertical back caping to stay open and stand out like wings.

Logo problem.
This is a very nice shirt, but I sent it back because of the large logo on the front flap. I am not paid to advertise the product and it was very noticeable right out on the front.
