Our original SunSmart™ apparel, Tropicwear was first introduced in 1992 to protect destination anglers from the hot tropical sun. Customers quickly discovered Tropicwear wasn't just for fishing, using it for just about anything outdoors. It's been updated with a better fit, new stretch woven fabric that's softer and better ventilation. Best of all, Tropicwear still provides UPF 50+ sun protection, or about 10 times more than a white cotton tee.

Very poor quality of material and/or construction
The material was substandard and had several large obvious wrinkles that would not come out even with two washing cycles. The shirt may have been incorrectly designed or constructed for the fabric that was used.

Fabulous shirt that checks all the boxes!
I ordered this shirt for my husband, who is slim and has long arms. He’s 6’2” and weighs 170.
He wears LL Bean slim dress shirts and no iron khakis on a daily basis, but he hasn’t had a shirt like this one. He loves the fit, the pockets, the material and sunscreen protection. He’s very cautious with regard to sunscreen protection so this shirt really works! His other sunscreen shirts are too big regardless of size. The smaller the size, the shorter the sleeve. He loves the plaid and blue looks great on him! Thank you LLBean!

Great sun shirt!
Very comfortable, light fabric, easy to wash and dry traveling. I ordered the XL tall size and have 35 inch sleeves and the sleeves were long enough to cover most of the back of my hands which I like for sun protection. I would say the sizing is just a tiny bit larger than typical but the loose fit made for an easy to wear and move in shirt.

Tropicwear goes everywhere
Been purchasing LLBean products for 52 years. Why? For the same reason I have twenty of their Tropicwear and/or No-Fly shirts. They perform! Easy care makes these shirts my first and often only shirt for travel. Layering makes them good even in cold environments Newest version has welcomed buttoned down pockets with underling zipped pockets. Great for securing phone and wallet when working in environments where pants get compromised by dirt, water, and mud. From the Arctic, Everglades, Lake Superior forests, Central Australian desert, to New Zealand Alps these shirts got my back!.

The shirt fits smaller than the older versions. The design changed as well but that isn't a big issue unless that caused the shirt to be made smaller.

Tropicwear Woven Shirt Long-Sleeve Plaid Tall
After many hard years of use, washing, drying cycles, I am finally replacing them with Tropicwear Woven Shirts Long-Sleeve Plaid Men's Tall. These wash just as well as the old Tropicwear shirts, so I am going to add another bunch of the new shirts. I am confident these new shirts will please me as much as the earlier shirts. I am 6'6" tall. The tall version of these shirts fits me perfectly, in the body and sleeve lengths. What a relief to be able to find new shirts ans good as and better than the originals.
