Perfect warm weather shirts
I live in South Louisiana. So most of the year its hot and humid. We also get about 70 inches of rain a year and off the chart UV indexes. These shirts are perfect for our tropical climate. Comfortable, cool, stay dry, and look great. I recently spent 8 full days outdoors in 90 degree weather at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. These shirts paired with LL Bean tropic weight khakis not only were comfortable and cool but had SO many people approaching me to compliment me on my outfit! When you have spent 6 hours outside in 90 degree hear and intense sun and still look nice enough for random strangers to feel the need to stop and pay you a compliment, you have a winner. Perfect shirts. (Oh and after all that - they washed and air dried beautifully).

Not the Greatest
Bought two shirts because of zipper pocket. First off, both shirts were heavily creased from packaging. I washed the shirts and literally the creases did not come out. Washed second time, same thing so I tried drying in dryer. Still did not go away. I ironed the shirts and had to use a hotter iron than recommended before the wrinkles finally came out and stayed out. They still look wrinkled. Really weird material. I have never washed clothes that after washing wrinkles do not come out.

Perfect and comfortable sun protection
Purchased 4 shirts for Hawaii trip - packed perfectly, washes great, keeps you cool while hiking, sitting on the beach, whale watching, whatever!

Husband and son live them
I bought this as a gift for my son who travels a lot. I have previously purchased these for my husband and he loves them. They are lightweight, vented, and can be worn to work. I’d buy more but they are pricey.

Love the color and material, dont love the fit
In all fairness the material, quality and delivery are great but the fit is not so hot. I guess i have a different idea of what XL should fit like. Will i wear it? Sure, but bang for the buck? Like everything else, way over priced.

I like the shirt's appearance and fabric.
We bought this shirt a month or so ago. I do NOT like the collar snap downs. I like to undo the collar for washing. I am afraid I will rip the snaps out when i undo them!!!

CHANGES BUT NO IMPROVEMENTS
I've worn Bean's Tropicwear shirts for years and I have always enjoyed the fabric and the fit. However, the new style is a downgrade. The mesh on the shoulders and the neck is irritating and the new fabric does not feel soft to my skin. The side zip pocket is just silly in a fishing shirt. I will just have to wear my old shirts until they turn to rags.

Sizing an issue
I bought this item in early July 2024. The sizing on the updated version (slightly fitted) is drastically different from the previous version (traditional fit) - by inches. (Note, I own several of the previous iterations of this shirt L/S and S/S.) It is also inconsistent with other S/S shirt sole by LL Bean (e.g., their slightly-fitted seersucker shirts, which fit perfect). Also, the shirt is out of stock for the year in the size I apparently need. I will be returning.

Disappointed by the redesign
I didn't notice that the shirt is only available "slightly fitted," which made it to tight for me. I've been buying this shirt in Standard Fit since 2010, and I'm sorry it's not available in that size any longer. It was a perfect shirt for hot, steamy weather since it's light, wicks sweat away, and dries rapidly. Like other reviewers, I don't like the stamped-on logo as opposed to the old embroidered logo, and the "SPF50" on the sleeve is pointless and ugly.

Runs one size small
Bean' s "Slightly fitted" equals one size smaller than their historical sizes.
These are FANTASTIC SHIRTS but how about NOT making everything "slightly fitted" or at least offer traditional fit and sizes. If purchasers work out or do physical work most of your sleeves can't be pulled over forearms, bicep/shoulders way too tight and I'm only average fitness. I have six of the earlier versions of these GREAT shirts and the new version fabric feels much thinner I worry won't last as long.

Cool lightweight fabric !
This shirt is extremely cool to wear since the fabric is so light weight. Only issue is it requires a light bit of steam ironing to remove the creases from being packaged to ship. I hope that after a delicate wash and low tumble dry it won’t need that.

The Fine Print
The shirt fits fine. The style is my favorite. The PRINTING on the front and sleeve is most annoying. Who needs to know it is SPF50 as it is stamped on the sleeve? The Bean logo is printed above the left pocket instead of embroidered, which my other six shirts have so beautifully sewn.

not quite right

Too bad
The Committee which designed this shirt to replace the original failed. The fabric, cut, sizing, and the 'wings' off the back combine to remove an overwhelmingly popular product. Like others, I regret not buying more before the line was abolished. Pity that the corporation cannot keep both products towards meeting the needs of all customers.
