Tropicwear Outback Hat
I haven't worn this one yet, but I lost an identical hat a few years ago due to wind. I wish that they had lighter and brighter colors for the summer heat. My original hat was a light blue which was a much better color for me.

Poor quality control
The crown of the hat is sewn in offset from the brim. It's rotated about an inch out of phase. Obviously no quality control. I've been a Bean customer for many years, but will rethink paying LL Bean prices for this poor level of quality.

Sun protection
Nice hat, light weight, nice flap.
Stiff enough brim and you can lay the brim flat in a suitcase with the top of the hat crushed.
The flap is long enough if you’re wearing a collared or a high cut crew neck shirt. I wish the flap was an inch or two longer since many women’s shirt are lower cut in the back than men’s shirts.

Adult Tropicwear Outback Fishing Hat
The neck cover length in the photo above is deceptive in that (when you place the hat on your head) it pulls up to a short length for less coverage.
This was my first purchase (and probably my last) from L.L. Bean. Frankly, I didn't anticipate being disappointed in my purchase by this company.

Sun Protection Hat
This is my second hat like this. I am at risk for skin cancer and need a hat with a broad rim that's also made of UPF 50+ fabric. This one is comfortable. The neck covering in the back can be folded up into the hat.

Comfort while protecting from the sun
I never thought of protecting my neck while gardening until I had a small Basel cancer removed. This hat does protect comfortably. I ordered a large because usually hats seem restrictive and uncomfortable. This hat has a cord which allows loosening and tightening for perfect personal fit. I know it will wash well and wear forever.The area shown in the photo below the hat comes tucked inside the hat. The basic hat brim is large enough that I haven't used the flap. If on the water a long time, this would be useful.
