Not what I expected
Just wondering why the zipper is not a 1/4 zip. It is very long. Not really what I expected, although it is a nice garment.

Awesome mid weight layer.
This mid weight layer is awesome. Fits well, stretches well and made well. I wear it over a tee shirt during outside activities on cool days instead of putting on a jacket. Keeps me warm without the bulk. Will buy more.

Nice warm heavyweight top
Was supposed to be a heavyweight version but I picked out the wrong style. It was in the heavyweight section. I have kept and also picked up a heavyweight style as well.

Getting better
I bought this to replace a midweight merino zip top that is over 20 years old. The XL tall is my usual size, though I am 5'9", this fits. Glad to see as I have sent 2 merino tops in tall back for being very short.
It would not hurt to add another 2 inches to the arms and length. Tis fits but is barely long enough. My old shirts are much longer in the body and arms-they are also LL Bean XL tall. They also are heavier weight, even after a couple hundred washings.
The weight is just about right. So far so good, if it does not shrink it is a keeper.
Merino wool base layers are just about the best base there is.
Nice to see Bean quality starting to come back.

Merino Wool 1/4 zip top
True to size. Nice mid weight. Good quality of material and zipper. I also own a similar Smart Wool top. The weave of the Bean top is different. Not sure if I prefer one over the other. Both are not irritating and very comfortable on the skin.

nice color and fine wool undershirt
It's a good first layer, so my husband willl keep it. It was a gift- but I wish LLBean sold wool long sleeve biking shirts, he'd rather have had that

I have all 4 colors! Love ‘em.
I like how comfortable they are, very warm without bulk. I change the zipper position to adapt to temperature. I know it’s a first layer but I wear it as a shirt, a sharp looking one.

Why so short?
Why make such a premium base layer and skimp out on one the most important qualities of a base layer, the ability to stay tucked in? I had to buy suspenders for my ski pants, and will be in the market for a bib next season if I plan to continue using this product as my base layers. They are an inch or two shorter than synthetic base layers I own from bean. I give the product 4 stars because outside of the length, it's feels and performs as a premium product.

This is excellent quality clothing!
This is a good example of; “you get what you pay for”. The quality of this shirt is excellent. It keeps me warm in chilly conditions on the golf course with temps in the high 30s during windy conditions.

NOT UP TO LLBEAN QUALITY/SIZE
After reading several reviews, I ordered a size larger (XXL) than I normally order with LLBean. The sleeves were still too short and torso length too short to be comfortable. However, the neck area was too large and would not stay tight around my neck. Also seems like the pullover is thinner than they used to be; especially for a mid-weight. I paid extra to get this express shipped to our Alaska minus 30 degree temps in hopes of enjoying some Winter hiking this week. It did keep me relatively warm when layered with Capiline and worn with a heavy LLBean Maine Warden Coat. The coat is great in this freezing weather, but the Cresta Midweight 250 Quarter Zip Top is disappointing.

Tall sizing is inaccurate
The “tall” sizing of the garment is debatable. The sleeves fit short and there is no way that I wear it using the thumb holes. The sleeves do not even reach the “knob” of my wrist. I am 6’5” and bought this for use in a hurry because a comparable wool base layer product in large tall was not in stock from the competition. I subsequently purchased a competitor’s product when restocked. The tall sizing of that product was what I have been led to expect from several other competitors’ large tall sizing for shirts. In that sense I consider the “tall” fit for this misleading. The product’s wool material has a good feel against the skin, and it has performed and washed well otherwise.

An outdoorsmen’s must have!
Our tall, rangy son loves his long enough merino wool base layer Christmas gift. He’s used it snowmobiling with a friend and snowshoeing with his 4 and 6 year olds just today
