Too Long
I wear a size 7, ordered the medium according to the size chart and they were an inch too long on my foot. Otherwise, it is a lovely sock and beautiful color.

Soft, thick and warm
I have not worn them for hiking yet, but have gone walking around the neighborhood and worn them to a ballgame. They are thick and soft and will keep your feet warm (which I particularly noticed on a hot May afternoon, LOL). Also, they don't slide around or bunch up inside the shoe.

Not quite right for me
I don’t know about these. I’m not sold on the ankle length relative to their thickness. I got them for hiking with my trail sneakers, and maybe I’ll prefer them in colder weather (though then I prefer a taller sock), or with different footwear, but for now in the spring going into summer I’m not sure they’re the right choice for me, and I returned a second pair. They seem like good quality though, so this is all just based on personal preference.

Comfortable fit, not too tight around the toes. Light weight, right height on the ankle. Cushioned for complete comfort!! After purchasing 2 pairs and wearing one as I type, I have ordered 10 more pairs. I find that when Bean has a product that is "right on", I realize they will not sell them forever. Run way too large!
I ordered my size. I wear a woman's size 7 shoe. They were huge. I double checked the size on the label. I gave them to my brother. They fit his size 13 feet perfectly. The quality was okay. I expected much better at that price. I'll stick with Smartwool brand.
