Nice combo, one flaw
Picked this up at the store yesterday and took it to the lake today. Nice to cast and comfortable in the hand.
You should be aware that this rod and reel combo does not float. A botched cast with the rain-soaked handle pulled the rod out of my hand and ended up at the bottom of the lake.
What can you do, but laugh?

Light and flexible rod
This is a great fishing rod for the money. I caught a rainbow lake tout the first time I used it. The light weight and flexibility really made the catch so much fun as you can really feel the fish.

Nice basic spin outfit
Bought one for our son, who wants to fish pretty regularly for trout in his home state of Oregon, and when he visits us in Montana. Good quality, nice light weight. Chose the lightest weight, for small stream trout fishing. Now all he needs is a snap swivel on the end of the line, and an assortment of spinners.

perfect gift for the grandkid
Product arrived in a timely fashion and was of the quality you would expect from "old school" LLBean. Grandchild has now used the rod and reel a number of times on his home pond quite successfully. A
