DONT BUY ANYTHING BUT COLUMBIA OR CANADIAN GOOSE.
This coat is way too thin and cold. It is greatly overpriced for what you get. Is it a poor quality and DO NOT would not recommend it at all. I returned it because it was a waste of money.

Love the stye. NOT WARM.
It's much more cool looking than it is warm. For the price it should be much warmer. Very thin and the wind blows right through it. Very disappointed. The fit is almost perfect though. 850 down doesn't mean diddly squat when there isn't enough of it. 850 fill power means that one ounce of down expands to fill 850 cubic inches but what good is it if you only used one ounce (for example) to fill an entire jacket.
[I bought a $50 puffer jacket (from a brand that actually sells protein as their main thing) and it was at least twice as warm as this. ]
As for this one I used it to walk from my car to the store (and back), grilling outside for a few minutes, and attempting to use a self service propane tank exchange (that wasn't working so I had to stand out there even longer). I think my cotton hoodie would is warmer.
I must disclose that the temperature is 33 degrees F and wind chill brings it down to 21 degrees F. But if the website would have actual temperature tolerances for their jackets (instead of a little dial that says warm, warmer, warmest) maybe I wouldn't be surprised.
I've been eyeing this jacker for about a year now before buying it. It looks just as good as in the pictures. I got the carbon navy one. I guess one pro is that when wearing it inside, you're not burning up.

Excellent warm coat
Replaced my old one this year and this one is great. The hood is kind of big and helmet shaped and because of that the wind pushes it off my head sometimes, and it looks goofy. My old one didn’t have the hood so overall that’s still an upgrade for me. One complaint…why did you remove the interior zip pocket? That was so useful and I used it a lot. More pockets, not less please. So removed one star for the hood shape and the interior zip pocket becoming a victim of corporate greed.

Slight changes in new model
This replaces an older version of same coat. One annoyance is sleeve length is about 3/4 of an inch longer than old one. Old one fit perfectly; I have to fold these sleeves under. Fit is exactly the same otherwise. Quality control problem. Slight change in placement of interior pocket. As usual, you have to be very careful with these coats—they rip easily on the slightest snag.

My review
All in all a great everyday jacket (large tall) for a Cleveland, Ohio winter. Lightweight, warm, very comfortable. I wish the outer zippered chest pocket was a little deeper. There’s only one inner pocket, on the left side, jacket would benefit from a second, right side pocket. I don’t like logos on clothes but they won’t go away, will they? However, it’s bad enough that there’s a logo on the front; there’s also one on the back, as well as one on a sleeve. What’s the point?! Totally unrelated, if this jacket was cut longer to a parka length I’d buy it.

Light, warm, and comfortable.
This is a great jacket...warm in the 30°-50° space. It's very light ,warm and good looking. Won't stand up to puppies though. This is my second, the first got torn up by my Portuguese Water Dog puppy who gets over enthusiastic when we go to the beach!

I’ve always been a good customer and usually am satisfied. Everytime I take the jacket I have feathers on my sweater …very disappointed in the quality of this garment which was not cheap .

I love this Jacket
Light, really warm, comfortable, fits well (LG Tall), thoughtful features (chest pocket to keep electronics warm, elastic cinches in the right place), packs down small... Everything I was looking for. I wear this thing constantly around town, it also gets stuffed into my pack on hikes / backpacking trips. Very happy with this one.

Size a little snug
This is a beautiful jacket with zippers that work flawlessly. The pockets are built under the down lining so your hands stay warm. Hood is easy on and off. When off, it provides a nice scarf affect that keeps your neck warm. I bought a regular based on the sizing in the Bean chart. I was well within "regular" but found that it was too snug in the chest and felt like it was binding a little where the sleeve joined the body. I had a light shirt under the jacket and felt that a flannel shirt or heavy sweater would be really tight. I returned the regular and bought a Large. It fits perfectly! I've worn it in as low as 3 degrees and it's nice and warm!

Perfect fit for my long arms!
As someone with long arms, I've had several down jackets that don't quite fit. This one is perfect! Not only is the sizing perfect but it doesn't shed feathers like some of the others that I've tried. Great job L.L.Bean!

Magic!
It’s kinda magical. It weighs about as much as a t-shirt, but keeps me as warm as an overcoat. And the price is definitely right.

Great jacket!
Arrived quickly and as scheduled. Fits great. Can wear a vest under it when temperatures descend into the low 20s. Else, it’s perfect for mid-20s to mid-30s by itself. Even in wind and wet conditions! Color was on sale. I love it.

Disappointed
I was told this was a replacement for the LL Bean coat I already had for a few years. It is nowhere near as warm. Maybe a Fall and early Spring coat, but not for the winter. Otherwise quality is real good as one would expect from LL Bean.

'Pin' holes after only a few weeks of light use
Good Morning - while I was initially pleased with my purchase - just in the last few days I've found a few 'pin holes' in the outer shell that are allowing down to escape. I've only worn the jacket lightly and now I'm afraid the hole will only get worse and bigger.

Great travel companion
This coat is very comfortable and warm, while still being lightweight. Pockets with zips keep contents secure, plus pockets inside give a handy place to keep a hat and gloves. The hood is comfortable and warm. This coat is a very good travel companion.

Husband lives the jacket.
My husband loves this jacket. He likes the lighter weight when it’s in the high teens/low 20s. He’s always just worn his heavyweight jacket for colder temps and then complains about it being too hot but had no alternative to put on. Well he does now and loves it. I like how packable it is; packing it into the pocket is easily done. I highly recommend this jacket.
