It took more than two years, more than 75 testers and a close partnership with flannel experts at our mill in Portugal to perfect our popular Ultrasoft Comfort Flannel Bedding. To achieve the superior pill-resistant flannel fabric for our checked pillowcases, we developed an exclusive process that carefully removes fibers from the surface to create a velvety smooth finish.

I have a bedroom with wallpaper and often it is difficult to find a comforter or bedspread that will work with the print. The plaid comforter cover and pillow shams worked great. I didn't realize that there were 2 pillow shams in the package until they were delivered so it was a great purchase.

These flannel pillowcases are soft and thick, and the length is generous. I actually bought them to use as shams to match the L.L.Bean comforters I bought for bed coverlets. I appreciate that named colors are consistent throughout the L.L. Bean bedding items.

Some reservations
The quality of the flannel is excellent and the duvet and pillowcases look great. I have some complaints, though. The plaids don't match up on the side seams of the pillowcases (or the duvet). I must stand the pillows on edge rather than laying them flat so the mis-match doesn't show. Also, the dyes aren't resistant to acne medications like benzoyl peroxide -- the green plaid is fading to a yellow-green. Lastly, I don't understand why pillow cases are almost half the cost of a duvet, given the differences in the amount of fabric, thread, and workmanship, and lack of buttons. Folks are seldom going to purchase the duvet without the matching pillowcases or shams, and I think LLBean takes advantage. All this said, I'm ordering another pair of cases to replace my medication-faded ones.

i'm a long-time user of bean's flannel bed linens. these pillow cases are excellent as always. they wash up beautifully, coming out of the dryer soft and fluffy. now i just have to wait for cold weather to arrive so that i can use them!

Excellent quality
I ordered a complete set of these Ultrasoft Comfort Flannel sheets before Christmas and have really loved them. They are very smooth and soft - perfect for our Colorado winters. My husband comments how much he loves these sheets every time we use them. Our big Golden Retriever puppy ate a hole in one of the pillowcases, so I guess he loves them too :). So I had to order another set which just arrived. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them!

We love the warmth and softness of these pillowcases. They were purchased separately to match the flannel sheet set, and it matches perfectly.
The blue is a very deep and rich color. Beautiful.
We plan on purchasing the Mariner Blue solid color pillowcases next.
LL Bean flannel is a must for cold winter months and we have no regrets.

Wicked Good Flannel
"Ultrasoft" doesn't even begin to cover the feel of these pillow cases. The flannel is thick and soft and holds up very well, wash after wash. This is my third set of pillowcases that I have purchased... I can't stand to go without whilst washing them. I highly recommend any of the Ultrasoft Comfort Flannel. I have another full set of colourful botanical print sheets that are over three years old and they still look and feel brand new. The fitted sheets have never shrunk and the flat sheets are long enough to tuck in and still cover my head with them.

Warm, soft, thick but not too heavy. I sleep in room that is ~65 at night. Think I can use these in NC mountains for much of the year compared to heavier flannel that has been too warm in the past. I also love the shade of green and the pattern. Been holding off on spending this much for sheets (bought the fitted sheet, pillow cases, and duvet cover) but wish I had splurged a long time ago.

Rather than a pillow sham
When ordering a new Ultrasoft Comfort Flannel comforter cover, I'd included two pillow shams which come only in standard and king sizes. I missed having my queen-sized pillows and those shams with their floppy borders just looked messy to me and I like neat and tidy. The shams were returned, I ordered king-sized (it's either king or standard, no queen) PILLOWCASES and am now happily back to using my queen-sized pillows. All it takes is a little fold and tuck and those lovely soft king cases turn my queen pillows into neat and tidy decor matching the new comforter. King cases also cost less than standard shams. Win Win!

Perfect! Awesome Quality
These are just what I wanted. Fabric weight is substantial, flannel surface is not too fuzzy, made very well, sized perfectly. I wish LL Bean would offer more flannel pillowcases separately instead of as part of a sheet set, I would buy more for sure!
