Rugged Cargo Shorts
I have been wearing LL Allagash cargo shorts (and pants) for years, I love them. I've tried other Bean shorts, but the Allagash cargo shorts are the only ones that work for me. The non cargo cut tends to catch on my quads when I squat down and require adjustment. The cotton fabric on other shorts just blows out. I'm hard on my clothes and the Allagash design, cut, and fabric work and last a long time. I buy 3 or 4 pair a year, and wear them all summer. The following year or if I screw up and get them stained, they are relegated to the work clothes pile and get abused until they blow out.

Fits well, appears to be strongly made
These fit well and the fabric appears very tough. The extra zippered pocket is a nice touch. The shorts I had been buying were cheaper, but also developed rips quickly. I'm eager to see how the Bean shorts stand up to my active life. Beans' jeans have proved tougher than other brands I used to buy. We'll see how these do.

Sizing not consistent
Bought two pair in olive size 34, liked them, so I order two more in khaki size 34. They are too small. In the process of exchanging them for size 35. Hope I don't have to pay for any shipping as it should not be the customer's concern is the sizing is not consistent.
They good shorts, though quite a bit changed over the years.

love the older version with 2 side zipper pockets
I have 2 dozen pairs saying back to when they first came out (4 root pockets; 2 zipper side pockets and 2 regular side pockets). MISS THEM ALOT. Also miss the cargo button down pockets. LL BEAN hope you will offer the original version of these perfect cargo shorts. Also miss the blue color from last year.
I literally have two dozen pairs in every color offered. You guys are the best. Want to buy more four front pocket shorts with the double side zippers.... LETS SEE IF CUSTOMER REVIEWS/COMMENTS/RECOMMENDATIONS ARE ACTUALLY READ BY CORPORATE MANAGEMENT ..... YOU CAN DO IY.

NEW CARGO SHORTS
As always the quality is excellent. However, they don't replace the current 3 pair of similar but different design shorts I got at Bean's a few years ago. It's always sad when a great product is discarded for a lesser design.

Great short but size seems off—running small
Great short that is well made and seems like it will last but the sizes seem to be off. Every pair of pants/shorts that my husband wears are a 36 and require a belt but 3 pairs of these (in different colors) required a 38 to fit normally. Exchanged with an additional shipping fee (unusual policy).

waste size is off compared to prior purchases made
For some reason this 33 inch waste is larger than the other 4 pairs I own. Not happy with that, but not worth returning. Otherwise, no complaints.

Material is fairly thick as some have indicated, but it does feel like nice quality fabric and should wear in nicely. Fits a tad on the tight side for the size; not just waist, but through hips. 2nd zipper pocket is a bit extra.

Liked old style
Disappointed with snap pockets, prefer the old buttons. Disappointed with the patch pockets, prefer the original bellows. Old fabric felt a little heavier, liked that better also. Fit is fine and comfortable.

GARBAGE. AVOID AVOID AVOID
WAY TOO BIG. I MEASURED MY WAIST BEFORE AND AFTER, THEN MEASURED THESE SHORTS, THEY WERE WAY TO BIG. I TRIED TO USE THEM, THEY KEPT FALLING OFF ME UNLESS MY BELTS WAS SUPER TIGHT. THEY WERE DO BAGGY THEY SNAGGED ON SOMETHING AND TORE A HOLE. FINALLY, THE MATERIAL IS TOO LIGHT.

Love these Shorts BUT…Bad security pocket Zipper!
I have over Ten pairs of these shorts and other than the 5 zippered security pocket zippers falling apart they are my favorite shorts I’ve owned.
The main front zipper on all pairs have never had a problem only the side zippered security pocket zipper. And at my age I use the front zipper a lot more than the side! They are two different kinds.
So far I’ve had three pair repaired at $15 each. unless they make an improvement to the side, Zipper, I can’t see buying anymore of these shorts or suggesting them to anyone else. But please let me know if you do update them and I will order more.

Color fading
I love the shorts, they are comfortable and rugged. The only thing is to be careful with dark colors as they fade after a few washes. Unfortunately, I had to return the Asphalt.

Built Tough!
I picked up a pair of these Allagash shorts last year and they are built tough…! Pretty heavy rip stop type 100% cotton, strong stitching, good fit with a gusseted crotch for ease of movement… They have plenty of pockets, including a zippered pocket for your keys or wallet… If you’re looking for a tough, strong and comfortable pair of shorts for hiking, fishing or casual use, look no further…

These shorts are tough! Too tough! The fabric doesn't like to bend, making it difficult to move. I have no doubt they are durable, unfortunately, they are too uncomfortable to be worn frequently.

New men's shorts.

I switched to these shorts from another model that were too blousey for me. They only have an 8 inch inseam, so they are shorter than most traditional “Bermuda” shorts. Can’t say I like them much. They remind me of some nice men’s slacks that were cut down into shorts. They don’t wrinkle and have a pleated look. Legs are still a little blousey, and I don’t have small legs.

I have 5 pairs of these. Three are older ones with 8 pockets, extra paneling on the pockets and buttons closures. The older ones are softer and have more of a matte finish to them. The newer ones are stiffer, have flatter pockets (that can store less things) and have only 7 pockets in total. The one good thing I'll say about new vs old is that the new ones have snap closures which are a little easier to work with. Overall, I prefer the older ones, softer, more pockets, bigger pockets.
