Great boots, purchased 2nd pair on sale
Great boots, 6 long northern Wisconsin winters worn daily. Hiking, snowshoeing or Sunday going to church, feet always warm and dry. Good traction from vibram sole.

Great traction
Boots are great
First use was on a moonlight icy trail
Good fit and support
The only shortcoming is the abrasive sole warms not to wear on indoor hard surfaces

Mens insulated work boots
The boots I purchased for my husband's birthday are just what he wanted--a flexible, insulated, waterproof, brown boot that would be warm in the winter and really serve him all year round--as good, dependable work boots.

Not a good one for snow/icy conditions.
Can’t believe LL Bean makes this. Very slippery in snow. Supposed to be the best for snow and icy conditions. No grip at all. Very disappointed.

These boots were for my son. He has already had a pair and was very happy with this new pair of boots.

Not very warm
Was excited to get these after my LLBean Wildcat snow boots literally fell apart - all the reps said it's normal so that's another story. Anways, got these as a replacement. Wore these on a 32 degree Pennsylvania winter day with 5" snow- played with kids and actively working in woods to remove a fallen tree. Never were my feet anything more than "not cold". Would be scared to wear them in anything colder. Feet never got cold, but barely warm and it was 32 out. Had thick wool socks on too. Was disappointed, for almost $200 I expected more warmth...isn't that kind of the whole point?
Pros:
Very comfortable
Lightweight
Don't go too high on your calf
Easy to tie
Fancy schmacy grips on bottom really do work well
Cons:
Not warm enough. Expect to be cold if you go ice fishing in these babies.
Bit narrow if you have wide feet

Good grip no slip
Boots are comfortable to walk in and easy to put on and take off. The grip on slippery surfaces is really good and why I got them.

They have good grip.
I had a pair of these and they were ok. They would be better ok if they cost about $80. I sent a review that they were not warm enough. No one contacted me. All of a sudden the insulation went up from 100 grams to 200 grams. Go figure. The warning is correct; the grip is good, but they can not replace the grip of cleats.

The best boots.
Great fitting boots that kept my feet warm and dry on snowy cold days (-30 degrees), and that were not cumbersome when walking. I highly recommend these boots.

Blue jeans dye doesn’t come off
Don’t let your blue jeans bleed on to them. They’ll stain and you’ll struggle to get that stain off.

Finally!!
Warm, supple on the feet, waterproof and does everything one needs in cold snowy weather. If necessary I could wear these boots all day while outside working, hunting or fishing.

Hand me downs...
I grew up in the 60's and as kids we stayed out in the winter snow until we were soaked to the skin with numb digits. As I grew older, my dad was a big L.L. Bean fan - he had the pack boots and chamois shirts all his life. When I was old enough to go out in the fall/winter hunting with my dad, I was given his well broken-in - oiled L.L. Bean pac boots - wool socks and your feet were never cold all day long! Now that my dad is long gone, I bought these boots for the same reason that he always did - keeping your feet warm no matter how cold it got. I spend at least a few hours outdoors everyday being that we have a small farm and animals to feed - these boots are dry, warm and I do think they hold the quality that I've known L.L.Bean for, I have to admit sometimes my feet do get cold but I think it might be that I have made it past 65 yrs. old and I don't want to give the rating an unfair description. My only bug-a-boo is (as it is with all work boots today) the material in the laces has changed - they must have some nylon or more of it - because if you don't tie them really tight - they are untied before you take too many steps!

ice rink attendant
I work in an ice rink and this is my second pair. I have tried other boots with a grip sole and these have worked the best for me on wet ice and freshly made ice that has frozen.

Sole pulled away from base of boot in 7 months.
Boots have been great. However the rubber has pulled away from the base of the boot causing leaks. I'm purchasing another pair as I wear them daily for outside work, but this should be corrected.

Arctic Grip is a Gimmick
Had these boots for about a year. Boots themselves are nice enough, warm. Laces do not stay tied. Arctic grip is a gimmick. Any increased ice traction is negligible. If you’re looking for better snow/ice traction get yourself a pair of YakTrax.

Great boots - buy 1/2 to 1 size up
Great and very stylish winter snow boots. They do run a little small. I wear a 12 and have these in a 13 which fit me very well with a thick or thin sock. The 12's were too tight even with a thinner sock. Seem to be well made and should last a long time, very pleased with these.

Excellent product but size recommendation is off.
They’re perfect for my intended use. Your size recommendation was a generous 11 1/2 to allow for heavy socks. I chose size 11 based on other LL Bean boots I own and wear with my heaviest winter socks. I’d swim in 11 1/2.

ArcticGrip Sole Doesn't Appear to Improve Grip
The good news: These boots are warm, waterproof, good-looking, and they fit very well (I ordered a half size bigger than my usual to account for woolen winter socks). That's kind of the minimum I'd expect.
The bad - and really disappointing - news: The costly and highly touted ArcticGrip Vibram soles are worse than a waste of money. The soles simply don't seem to have any beneficial effect. Not on plain ice, wet ice, or snow-covered ice. Not on snow and not in mildly cold, freezing, bitter cold, or sub-zero temperatures.
The claims made for ArcticGrip performance simply do not match my reality in 3 months of winter conditions. In my view, that can make the boots dangerously untrustworthy unless you tread slowly and carefully, every step of the way. But I already have a 10-year old pair of LL Bean winter boots that work as well as the new Storm Chaser with ArcticGrip soles. The rather high price the on these Storm Chaser boots can't be justified. The boots are going back.

Great winter boots
I bought a pair for my husband because I have been so pleased with my pair - now in their fourth winter. Ordered a size 10.5 for him and they were tight, so we returned those and ordered a size 11. The 11s are good and also allow a little extra room for a heavier sock on super cold days, which we get here from time to time.
