Not like they once were
Like many, I still have my llbean bag from High School and it held up beautifully. Due to this I bought my kids llbean bags. Unfortunately, they don’t last more than one school year. My son isn’t particularly rough with his bag or anything and the zipper broke and it ripped in multiple places! He takes it to school and home. This makes it hard to justify the price when I can get the same quality at a much cheaper price point and I really only came to llbean because of the quality in the first place.
The size is nice, my kids feel like they are comfortable and hold a good amount. The padded laptop holder keeps laptops from hitting the ground when they inevitably toss it down without care. Wipes clean. It’s just too bad the quality is lacking.

Perfect for my maturing child
My now middle school-aged daughter has outgrown her elementary bag with unicorns all over it, so we got this book bag for her birthday. It's a beautiful eggplant color, monogramming was perfectly done, and my daughter loves that the clips and edging details on the bag are lavender instead of white or black. She carries her bag everywhere and couldn't be happier.

14 years of heavy use
My parents bought me one of these in 2011 for college. I used it daily for four years, then frequent use including several international trips. I was not kind to this bag and even washed many times in the washing machine! It has only recently developed a small tear. And did I mention this thing is HUGE? You can fit so much in here, and it expands to exactly the limit of an airplane carryon. I’m back browsing because I want to replace it, thanks to that tear. My husband has gone through four or five off-brand $20 backpacks in the time I’ve had this one. Definitely worth it.

Lasted 7 years and 2 sons!
Best Backpack we have ever bought. It's been handed down through 2 boys over 7 years and still functions well. Good Strong Zippers, Loads of packing and organizational spaces, and a sleeve at the very back to slide the Laptop/Chromebook in. The only reason we are replacing ours is because it's Minecraft themed and the boys have aged well past that. ;)
One suggestion I would have is that the water bottle mesh be designed to hold taller water bottles.

Durable - but "too" big for child
This bag has held up well during daily use from 5th-8th grade. BUT, I'm now going to buy my child the smaller-sized medium (24L) bag for high school. Why? This backpack is so large, my child carries WAY too much to and from school, never learning how to manage what actually *needs* to be carried, never going through and filtering out old papers. It's over 25 pounds when filled with books, papers, pencils, etc. (I don't think they even know what's truly in there!) I don't think a student truly needs a 37L backpack to use daily, even with a laptop.

The best backpack
These backpacks last for more than 5-6 years with heavy books being brought to school every day. The only reason I bought a new one was because my son needed the larger size?
