Since the change of manufacturer, the quality of the boot has suffered dramatically, certainly not worth the price. I would not recommend this boot to anybody who is planning on using it more than three or four times a year.

Poor Craftsmanship
A beautiful looking boot, however less than 2 years of no abuse , no rock climbing only hiking dirt trails i noticed both boots were separating at the rear heel stitching , total failure of the structure of the boot. Those were Italian Leather goretex, for 300.00 bucks and well cared for that should be a lifetime boot maybe an occasional resoul !! Fortunately LL Bean has Replaced them , thanks for the Warranty and standing behind your products, Maybe consider Manufacturing at home I'd certainly pay a little more for a boot I can Care For and Know I Have a LIFETIME HIKER !!

Something has changed and its not good!
After 20 years and several pairs, I have to say the new version aren't that great. Something has changed. My understanding and also looking at the tags, the current iteration of the former outstanding "Cresta" hiking boot is not the original boot we have all become accustomed to. I am on my 5th pair of these boots. The first 2 or 3 pair were handmade in Italy and lasted 10 years. The4th pair was hand made in Romania and are in their 3rd year and still in great shape. The newest, and most expensive pair were made in Vietnam and are not the same product. Im very tempted to send these back and find a used pair on e-bay.

Please change the name of these boots.
The current iteration of the former outstanding "Cresta" hiking boot is not the original boot we have all become accustomed to. I am on my 3rd pair of these boots. The first pair was handmade in Italy and lasted 10 years. The 2nd pair was hand made in Romania and are in their 5th year and still in great shape. The 1st and 2nd pair were essentially the exact same product. The newest, and most expensive pair were made in Vietnam and are not the same product. They no longer have Gortex insulation, the metal is cheaper and not as strong and the leather is not as thick. Additionally, the fit is completely different. Apparently my feet have grown and gotten wider in my 53rd year of life according to the new "Cresta" boots. LL Bean, do yourself a favor, and call these something else. People like me who have purchased these boots over the years are expecting the same incredible quality as prior versions. These are not them, and these are the most expensive version. It's sad to see a once incredible quality product, cast off to the bins of mediocrity.

New cresta hiker not old one!
The old version had goretex, made in Italy and lasted. New ones are tek, metal tags fall off and ankles wear holes in 2 months. Stear clear. Had to go back to asolo

Broke less than 3 months old
I bought these boots less than 3 months ago. One of the lugs (lace hoops) broke making them useless for the ankle support I bought them for. For the price of these boots I’d expect better quality. Unfortunate, since they are so comfortable.

Used to be better
I've had these boots before and loved them so much. Decided to replace them and the new "version", while a nice boot is not the same as the one pictured. The one pictured currently was the old version made of the most beautiful leather. The one just received is a cheaper material with a duller finish. Not as nice at all. The price should be lowered to reflect the change in quality.
