Not very usable
Fly wallet is very bulky and does not fit in any pockets in my fishing vest. Difficult to use on the stream because the snaps require both hands to fasten and do not align easily. As noted in other reviews the lining is synthetic (not wool) and does not hold flies with their barbs clipped. Flies can easily fall out the open ends when handling.

Completely unsatisfactory
This item is no where close to the high standards that I have come to expect from LL Bean. The fleece inside the wallet appears to be synthetic, which in and of itself would not be a problem except for the fact that it is completely useless when it comes to holding flies! I have used natural fleece in the past, and it has a certain amount of "kink" in it such that the hook gets gently caught in the fleece. In this product, the hook just slides through. The wallet itself is of fair quality, but the pseudo-fleece is a non starter. I'm a bit surprised by the name of the wallet: "Maine Guide"? If this is what the guides in Maine are using, I suspect there is a gold mine of lost flies up there in the bottom of rivers. Open the wallet and all the flies fall out! I typically love the quality of LL Bean products, so apologies for a harsh review. This one does not meet the bar.

Had been looking for this type of fly book for a while. The sheepskin interior is nice and plush, will hold lots of flies. The size is good and it's very well constructed, looks durable.

Great storage for my flys
Large enough to group my flys together and compact enough for easy carry. I like the soft lining to hook my flys in. The off white background makes them easy to see. Always good equipment from ll Bean.
