I purchased in store the golden, original version of the jacket. Normally, I need petite but am OK with rolling back the cuffs to expose the contrasting colour corduroy. It is a bit stiff and hope it will soften. The back gussets help with freedom-of-movement. The pocket configuration (six!—one inside and the others outside, including chest with zipper) are really great features.This sets it apart from its less expensive sisters. A man complimented me on it so you know it looks functional and nice.
Pants made of the same snag- and tear-resistant fabric would be wonderful. Women need these things as much as do men.
If I had to express any criticism, it would be that a two-way zipper would make this coat warmer.

Bought this 1924 Field Coat Women's Petite for my wife, because she had an LL BEAN BARN COAT for years & loved it! This coat is well-made, as all LL BEAN products are, and the cut & material are outstanding.

Black cotton canvas jacket
This jacket is heavy black canvas and so stiff that I can't put it on. I will wait until the Spring and try it on over a tshirt or something similar, maybe wash it first to soften it.

Great jacket!
I was shopping for a barn jacket at other retailers and stumbled upon this one. Admittedly, I did catch a sale. I’m 5’ but bought regular vs. petite, in black. I prefer a little longer jacket and flip the cuffs. I’m pleased with the quality and style, and will be wearing it for years to come!

Women’s barn coat
Item runs big. I needed a petite small. The lining is not as thick. I need to add an extra layer to stay warm in 40 degree weather. I do like the length and overall look but not warm enough for New England weather.

Good fall coat for the most part
So much I like about this coat but also some problems. The sleeves seem too long. Folding back the sleeves would work because the cuff is corduroy but when you cuff the sleeve to show the corduroy the seam and lining of the coat does not look finished. It would be a perfect coat if there were more attention to detail in the construction and sewing. I do think the fabric used for this coat is very nice.

Great style, not-so-great quality?
I love the style and fit of this jacket, but after just 2 weeks of wear three of the buttons started to fall off (broken threads) and the lining was pilling quite badly. Luckily these are both easy fixes with a fabric shaver and some needle/thread, but I was a bit disappointed with lack of longevity for the price. Hoping this is just a one-off issue!

Not Like The Old One
I have owned two barn coats. The second, now 8 years old, is worn at the cuffs, and my puppy chewed the front hem, but I'm still wearing it. I would replace it in a minute if you brought back the original quality, with quilted lining and long enough to cover my behind in really cold weather. Please consider bringing it back.
