Rated 4 out of 5 by from Women’s Fall outdoor jacket Love this coat but it is not the warmest coat I have but perfect for the early fall. I just like the style and fabric because it reminds me of a barn coat I had years ago.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sadly, Not For Me I had high hopes when I ordered this item, but it did not meet my expectations, to my disappointment. It was skimpier in size and shorter in length. My LLBean barn coat in the same size is a much better fit. I really wanted this coat to work but it wasn’t right for me and may not be right for others. In fairness, the workmanship on the coat is excellent and the little details are well crafted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Internal coat pocket perfect for cell phone! Five Stars. Everything you want and nothing you don't. I would recommend it to a friend. Located in Bellingham, WA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A real keeper Really nice jacket - well made, nice weight and very comfortable. I was a little hesitant to buy it but it fits nicely with a sweater underneath and I have worn it constantly since it arrived. One criticism: It says the fabric is 'wax cotton' but there's no indication of wax to me (i actually have another limited edition coat with fabric from the same company that is waxed; totally different look and feel)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic look, easy care! Classic look, perfect fit. (XS petite fits 5’1” 110 lbs like it was custom-tailored). Perfect weight with a sweater underneath for chilly fall days. Lots of pockets, and they’re convenient for phone and keys. The lower pockets open from the top, not the sides, which took a little getting used to, since I like to put my hands in my coat pockets. However, I found that putting your hands in the pockets from the top works (I didn’t have to break my habit entirely). Tan color looks great with all earth tones and also works with black. I love the look and feel of this so much I ordered a second in the faded black color. I highly recommended this if you’re looking for an easy care, comfortable, classic-style waxed cotton jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LL Bean Quality I appreciate the quality and fit of this coat. I needed something that could be worn for casual outings, but ideally for outdoor work, as well. The courdory barn coat that I once had from you had finally worn out, and I was skeptical, but it's great. Thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket Great fit and fabric. For reference, I’m 5’2 and 128lbs. PM is a perfect fit with room for movement and comfort. Also a perfect weight for our southern climate.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great coat! Great quality coat! I ordered in Petite and the size was good. Quality is excellent!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wanted to love this I splurged on this and truly wanted to love it. I cut off all the sewn-on tags (because they drive me nuts). While it was of decent quality, at the end of the day, it was just too short, too stiff, and too heavy for my liking. I actually donated it to charity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from “New Look” Even though it reflects a past style, it now looks in “style” with the shorter length.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed I love the quality of LLBean Clothes but as I get older and my body changes they are cut too narrow.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It’s got an inside pocket! What I love: Beautiful color (I got the brown one). I love the fabric - it is reasonably light and the wax layer helps it kinda crinkly into a “I’ve had this awhile” look - better than out of the box. The inside pocket. Yes, a women’s jacket with inside pocket! Hurrah! It is not heavy duty, but it holds my large phone without a problem. The covered pockets - the top ones, are large and also can hold the phone. The hand warming pockets are a little high to function well as hand warmers.. but in a pinch. I ordered petite medium first - my usual size (I am at the upper range of petite medium). I returned it and ordered a petite large because, though the medium fit okay around me, the arm holes are cut a bit high, so it felt like I’d always feel them under my arms. No thanks. The large is looser and will easily fit a sweater underneath. The 4 stars has to do with the sleeve lining. I always fold back my sleeves, so on this jacket I fold back the sleeves to expose the corduroy. The lining flops out with it. My other LL Bean coat does not do this - barn coat. A small point, but still.. kinda irritating. Overall, very happy with my purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I had one of these original jackets with the button-in wool liners. Warmest, most versatile, best jacket ever. This jacket has a light flannel lining and just isn’t warm. I pushed for a long time for LLBean to bring back the original coat. Both the men’s and women's jackets look good but aren’t nearly as wearable/versatile as the earlier jackets with the warm, cozy wool lining. I don’t like it nearly as much as my old jacket and need to wear a sweater or fleece vest with it to keep warm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice well made coat. This is a very nice, well made coat. My wife wanted the petite size but after she got it it did not cover her rear end so we returned it and got the Barn coat which did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Jacket Beautiful jacket although the orange isn’t as vibrant as photo which actually was a plus for me. I kept putting off buying it and had to get a petite XL instead of an X and not so sure if I don’t look like a drown rat in it. I ordered the Camo in the petite L to see if it fits better. It was actually my favorite but I didn’t want to look like I was dressing too young lol. I have a premonition I’ll keep both of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely jacket This is such a lovely jacket. Great pockets, great lining, great overall quality. I think it runs a bit small. I am petite and initially ordered the da but had to size up because there was no room for layers. I think it is well worth the price tag. The color is also great with the green collar contrast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Coat!! I bought this coat a couple of weeks ago. I can not wait to wear it in cooler weather! I am 5'3" and weigh 120 pounds. I always wear a small but I followed the reviews and went up a size to a medium. Perfect fit! I can wear layers underneath if needed. The color I bought was Canyon Rust. A beautiful color. The quality of the coat is well made. Keep up the good work Llbean!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great fit I bought the green field coat and it’s great. It’s not as warm as the last one I bought. I’m hopeful as it gets cooler that it will be able to serve the same purpose. I’m 5’5” and 145 - The Medium Regular fits with a thin sweatshirt under it. Ample pockets for work gloves and dog-bags.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not my old Field Coat Its fine but I'll never forgive the person who walked off with my original 1980s coat with the rubberized game pocket - perfect for stashing a beer as well as a bird - and the cartridge holders in the pockets - despite my name written in large letters in permanent market on the inside. Yeah, that coat is my Rosebud. I'll likely keep since its likely to be as close to the old one as I can get.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coat, expensive but worth it! It took a while for me to pull the trigger on this coat, but the reviews were excellent (and here’s another to add to the pile!), so I went for it. No regrets! I have broad shoulders, and the coat has a bi-swing for women, which I always look for (usually I buy men’s coats to get a full-swing for my shoulders and arms to move). The chamois lining is warm, and the coat is a good length. It doesn’t cover your butt like a longer one would, but it has a great fitted look. It also looks professional when worn over most clothing (turtlenecks especially). I’m sometimes a medium, sometimes a large (5’8 and 145lbs), I went with large and I can put on a sweater under it comfortably (not a thick knit one, though). If you’re looking for a fashionable coat to wear in everything but a northeast blizzard, this is a great choice!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I expected I just received my field coat. I have one very old and worn out that has to be almost 30 years old so I was excited to order a new one. It is nothing at all like the original. It’s half the length - just falls to the hip. The styling, look and feel is different. I’m extremely disappointed as I was hoping it was like the original. For the price of over $300 CDN, I will be returning it. It’s not as at all described as “ women’s 1924 field coat “…it’s a 2024 version .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Description is misleading! I ordered this jacket not reading the fine print! The jacket is not like the original! It is too short and I’m petite! Very dissaponted when it arrived! I am sending it back!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Made I bought the medium size in rust. It’s a beautiful coat and extremely well made. I’m actually like the length of the jacket, it feels sportier than the longer ones. I’m still debating whether to size up to a large even though it fits well— I want to be able to wear sweaters comfortably underneath. I’d recommend if you are between sizes order up. It was made in England so runs on the smaller side.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good style for petites Since fall is just starting I haven't worn out yet, but based on my previous version I assume it will be a good practical jacket for late fall/early winter. I normally am between PS and PM but generally opt for PM because I like extra room. I got PM and it probably fits more flatteringly than other jackets I have because it actually fits, but I would say if you're between sizes or unsure or want to wear heavy sweater under it you should go with the larger size. At least in petite the shoulders are a tad narrow. I bought saddle, which is a nice color for this coat, but with my coloring a more tan/beige khaki color would have been more flattering. The shorter length is great for someone like me with very short legs, anything that lengthens them is appreciated, but I imagine might be different for those with long legs.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love this jacket, almost. I was delighted to see that the women's 1924 Field Coat was finally brought back. However, I don't like the modern hip length. I have a long torso, so I like the original coat. I agree with the one customer who asked to bring back the original 1990's Field Coat. And also include the zip in/out Permaloft lining. I have not yet ordered this coat, but as soon as the original length and lining are available, I will be the first to order it. Then, I can finally give up the old, tattered, not warm 1990's coat that I still use!.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fine Coat! I have the camo print- very nice fit and gusseted arm holes for movement. Just the right length for me-5' 2" person. Material is nice texture and seems quiet also. Great product, I like the tan also.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Who knows? I ordered this coat for a trip to Ireland. Despite paying for 2 day shipping, 5 days later I'm heading to the airport with no coat. Thanks, LLBean!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another L.L. Bean Heritage Gem from the Archives I placed an order for this 100th anniversary field jacket in canyon rust on June 19 and in camo on July 12; a splurge I know, but I like it that much. The special waxed cotton shell looks as if it will last forever. The four larger pockets lie flush with the jacket's front and don't create a bulky appearance. At first glance, these four pockets look like just two. What a clever design! The small, zippered chest pocket is both a cute and a practical addition. There's even a convenient inside pocket, bringing the total to six usable pockets. The fine, narrow-wale corduroy of the collar is repeated in the underside of both pocket flaps. This jacket is fully lined yet not bulky, and the taffeta-like lining of the sleeves creates an easy on/off experience. The action pleats add comfort of movement and look "sharp" as well. The seam across the waistline in back adds a bit of feminine contour and is so much classier and flattering than a drawcord would have been. Finally, the vent holes, surrounded with metal grommets, in the armpit areas are a thoughtful inclusion for both comfort and fabric protection. What an incredible amount of goodness packed into one small jacket!
