Rated 5 out of 5 by LLbeanFanVT from Why did I wait so long?! I have been looking at this coat for a long time but was slow to buy as I have a perfectly good shorter winter jacket from LLBean. Recently we had some brutally cold weather here in northern Vermont and I decided to take the plunge and invest in this coat. It is ultra warm, super comfortable, easy to zip. You can snap just a couple of snaps if you're running out with the dog quick, or go full up and zip and snap. It resists the freezing chill of wind whipping across a field of snow on a long jaunt down our road. I could not be happier! You can actually sit down in it, with the coat fully zipped! If it keeps your butt and thighs as toasty as the rest of you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Louise from Finally! Finally! A Winter coat that is utterly comfortable, super lightweight, and keeps me TOASTY WARM in freezing temperatures (even while wearing just a thin blouse underneath.) This coat gives me confidence that when I leave home in frigid temperatures I won't be shivering my bu## off -- a wonderful feeling. The length is perfect, keeping my bottom and legs protected down to just above my knees. I find the hood to be perfect once adjusted by shortening the velcro tab. The pockets could be a little bigger, but I'm not deducting a star over it because I'm just SO happy with this coat! I love it even more than my bright red Baxter State Parka.

Rated 4 out of 5 by 04290 from Great Winter Coat This is a great coat. I was hesitant to buy it because of some mixed reviews. However, it fits great. Not too loose/baggy and not too small. I can wear it with a hooded sweatshirt underneath. The sleeves have a warm fabric at the ends to seal in the warmth so snow and cold don't get up your sleeves. The hood is big as some people have mentioned but when I fastened it, I could still see just fine. It just goes farther out past my face, which I dont see as a negative but rather more blockage from cold winds. This coat is not cinched at the waist or fitted so I hoped a large would be wide enough to accommodate my curves, it was! Not fitted but still cute.

Rated 5 out of 5 by grizzlymainer from Best coat I've ever owned This is the first coat I've owned with any sort of down insulation because ones I've tried on before make me look like the Stay Puff man, AND they bunch up on my chest when I sit in the driver's seat of the car. It actually lays flat against my torso when I sit. The "premium Bean Tested 650-fill-power down" in this coat is amazing and DOES NEITHER of those things! The coat is relaxed fit and provides plenty of upper-arm and back/chest room. It's comfortably warm without turning me into a dripping sweat factory! I am 4' 10' and the 3/4 length covers to mid-knee. Love it and definitely recommend it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Xxpp from Doesn't live up to expectations I bought this coat because I thought that L.L.Bean put out the most durable and warm winter coats. This coat did not live up 2 all the wonderful things I heard about L.L.Bean. it was very warm but the lining was a cheaper material and kept bunching up. The zipper would not zip without continual trying. There was a snag in the arm and it just seemed to be of cheap quality definitely not worth the price I paid even on sale. I got a much better coat 4 less than half the price and made much better at the local department store. I was just very disappointed in the quality as I heard that this was the best company for coats and I waited a long time before I could buy one

Rated 2 out of 5 by Buddysmom2 from Not really ultra anything I have a Choclolate Lab who needs a long walk twice a day. I bought this coat last fall as a 'tweener' my long heavy down coat and my fall coat. For that purpose, it worked, except the wind tended to go down the front collar when I had the hood up. No way could this coat be called ultra warm though. The color was not a dark raspberry but a BRIGHT raspberry. No need to worry about being seen at night in that! The material is not very durable...I have several tears in the sleeves and shoulder which are now losing the down. Lot a money for a coat that only lasted one season. Hope Bean is not following other manufacturers and cheaping out on quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BLBS from warm and comfortable This coat is warm and comfortable. I like the length that covers the thighs for protection from cold and wind. The pockets have zippers to protect the contents. There is also an inside zippered pocket on the chest that can hold valuables. There is a narrow, vertical pocket on the inside left that closes with a velcro flap that is so slim I have no idea what might fit in there, a pencil? It is too narrow for a phone. This coat is shaped a bit so that you can bundle up and still look like a lady, not a marshmallow. The hood is nice and can be adjusted to fit over your head or a bit looser to fit over a lightweight hat. Very nice garment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jessica8 from Great jacket This jacket is soft, and definitely warm. I have not yet worn it below the 30s. I also like the cuffs at the end of the arms, as well as the fact that you can remove the hood. The only negatives to this jacket is that the down feathers actually poke out of the outer fabric, and can easily be pulled out. Although it is not extremely noticeable, my concern is that over time the down layer will thin out and the jacket will no longer keep me as warm as it used to. The other thing I don't like about the jacket is that it has 2 zipper heads, which actually makes it difficult to zip it up, and sometimes out of frustration I just resort to using the snaps.
