Rated 5 out of 5 by FIRSTTIMER from GREAT SWEATER If you are looking for a great, heavy cable knit sweater, look no further. I love my hoodies and regular sweaters to fit big and baggy, but you DO Not want this sweater to fit that way. This sweater has serious weight to it. I ordered an XSmall after reading numerous reviews and I normally buy medium or large in hoodies and this size fits PERFECT, granted I did try it on over my scrub top so it will fit better with just a thin tank top on under it. I'm 5'3 and 140 and jiggly in my midsection. My bra size is 36B and waist is 30-31" for those of you that are scouring reviews wondering about fit. I hope this review helps and happy hunting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RNKate from love this sweater! This is an excellent sweater. The length is perfect - it always seems like "falls at hip" is too short on me, so this length was just right without being too long. It is well made and thick, so it has some weight. It's not super-soft, but is not uncomfortable to wear with a tee or cami underneath. As others have said, it does run large. I'm 5'4" and 135 lbs, and the XS fit perfectly - the body length & sleeve length is spot-on. I can keep the side-zippers closed and it is not too tight. I did not have neck-width issues like others have reported, it fits here as it should. I ordered the dark red/cherry color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PyreneesAreGreatDogs from Not for us short folks--great if you are tall! The new light blue is a sophisticated light blue with a bit of a greyish cast. Lovely! I liked the orange-ish color as well, but my husband didn't care for that color. I thought the yarn was soft enough, and that the arms were the perfect size around. (I have muscular arms and shoulders.) Now for my mistake--I should have called Bean to find out the total length of the sweater before ordering. I am 5 ft 3 in and the sweater literally comes only 2.5 inches above my knees. It is straight on the sides from armpit to bottom hem, so not flattering as a dress, and too long to even wear over leggings. Sadly returning them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AubreyR from Gorgeous & Excellent Quality I kept coming back to look at this sweater so many times before purchasing - I’m so glad I have it now, I only wish I hadn’t waited so long! The knit pattern is beautiful, the weight of the thread is heavy, but because it’s cotton, it breathes - perfect for 3 seasons. I have the black cherry color and it is lovely. I like how the sweater doesn’t get stretched out and lose its shape after wearing it all day. This style runs large - I am typically a size large and had to exchange the large for a medium, which still has extra room for me, but the fit is just gorgeous - I am definitely considering purchasing in another color!

Rated 5 out of 5 by amymn from Beautiful Sweater, Runs Large I have wanted this sweater for years, and I finally ordered it. I love it! The weight of the sweater is great for winters in MN and the overall fit is very nice. It does run really large. I'm 5'8", 160 lbs., and I wear a medium or large. I originally ordered the medium and returned it for a small. With the small, I still have a relaxed fit. The neck opening is rather large, but I found it shrunk a little the first time I washed the sweater in the washing machine. The sweater held up very nice after washing - there was a little bit of overall shrinkage, but it honestly just made the sweater fit a little better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LongTimeBeanLoyalist from Beautiful, comfortable and warm I always wanted a nice fisherman style sweater, and this one is perfect. I work in a cold office and this sweater with just a pima turtleneck underneath, keeps me warm & comfortable. The sweater knit is loose enough for it to breathe, but still kept its shape even after a long day. The tunic length is perfect with skinny jeans and boots, and the side zippers are just an extra detail that makes it unique. Plus, the soft, natural color cotton will go with anything. I ordered a size Large and it fits perfect for me, but I prefer a relaxed fit. (I'm 5'6" and 160 lbs.) If you want something more fitted, order a size down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by VermontSarah from Sweater is great, neck hole is weird I purchased this sweater last winter and just had it out last weekend when the weather turned chilly in the evening. I love the heavy weight, color, length and drape of this sweater. It looks great with skinny jeans and riding boots. It's also simply a fashionable, practical addition to a Vermont winter wardrobe. My only small complaint about it is the size of the neck hole. It's too big, which makes the neckline look sloppy if I'm wearing a crew neck underneath it. I counteract this by always wearing the sweater with a scarf or turtleneck, and that does the trick. But I would have given this one five stars if the neckline was the same as the neckline on the original, signature fisherman sweater.

Rated 3 out of 5 by midMissouri from Fit not perfect, but styling is beautiful First I have to say this is a beautiful sweater, and I kept it for that, even though the fit on me wasn't what I hoped. First of all the length is much longer than it appears. It is more upper thigh or even mid thigh, not hip. And the neckline is much wider too. I have to wear a T shirt under to keep my bra straps from showing. Lastly, as the sweater is made of cotton, and of a longer length, it is actually rather heavy. Having said all this, I kept the sweater, because I love the color, a dark cranberry, and it's not easy to find a sweater with the look of a hand knit. Perhaps L.L. Bean will take my comments and others and adjust the fit for future offerings.
