The robe is not as soft and nice as my old one which is probably 20 years old.

poor quality flannel
The flannel is very thin and it gives off a lot of lint. I washed and dried it 3 times and my sink is still being covered with a dusting of fibers. I still end up with dark blue lint on my face. The fit and construction are fine.
