Rated 5 out of 5 by from Praise and a little critique These are the best winter boots I have ever owned. I live in Vermont and have owned Sorels previously--These feel just as warm and waterproof, without the clunkiness. I love that the quality is amazingly good and that they came from an ethical, American factory. I bought my true size (8.0) even though the site advises you not to. They fit quite well, but slightly big in the toe. Even with the roomy size, however, these boots are hard to take off. The thinsulate layer slides out with my foot and bunches up. It's pretty annoying but worth these boots are worth the effort, in my opinion.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too Narrow These boots were absolutely gorgeous, and I was super excited to receive them in the mail. Unfortunately, although they are an average fit, they were far too narrow at the ankle for my foot to even get into them! I have rather high arches, but my feet are not that wide. My toes could get in, but my arch got caught at the ankle. Thanks to L.L. Bean's great exchange policy, I was able to take these in to the store and get a pair that did fit. Unfortunately, they were all out of every other women's boot in my size! So I had to get a men's version to fit. This is mainly unfortunate because men's boots aren't as feminine looking, and feel a little too bulky for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Early Purchase I bought these boots recently to avoid any backordering closer to winter. I work outside, and will continue to do so all through winter, and I'm one of those people who are always cold. After reading dozens of reviews, I decided to give these a try, and I'm glad I did. I ordered my TRUE boot size, and they fit perfectly. They are also comfortable straight out of the box, and I am confident that I made the right choice for this winter. Side note for those of you who are concerned about packaging: there was no plastic in my shipping - everything was cardboard and paper which are easily recyclable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cute and warm Honestly never thought about these boots until I logged onto ll bean. My mom has always been a huge fan and I am too now. These shoes are cute and practical. They are very warm, very similar to snow boots. The are a bit stiff when you get them but after walking in them I believe they will loosen up and almost mold to your foot. Creating a warm but practical shoe. I really want to take them hiking during the cooler months because they are meant for hunting. Overall love the shoe and have recommended to people because I know ll bean stands by their quality of the product so you can never go wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Boots! I had just received my boots when we got our first taste of winter in November – the boots were fabulous, my feet stayed warm and dry during several hours of shoveling snow. Yesterday we got our second taste of winter – it was extremely wet and the footing was not good, but the boots were (once again) fabulous! I did not fall or slip while the drive and sidewalks were shoveled. When I got in the house, my feet and lower legs (where my jeans were tucked into the boots) were the only dry areas due to the driving sleet and rain. I absolutely love these boots. I wear them in the snow, ice, rain and they are remarkable. I love that I don’t slip and I can feel what is underneath my feet. The only drawback for me would be the boot laces, but I can change those out to ones that don’t cut into my fingers when I am trying to tighten them to tie.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not hold shape I love LL Bean as a company and was beyond excited to get these very nice boots to replace a similar style fashion boot, not a technical boot, I had from a different brand. However, the boots started sagging around the ankles within a few uses! It looked like I had cankles no matter how thin of socks I wore or how tight the laces were. They were the same height as my previous favorite pair of boots that I wore out but because of the material or cut, they did not wear in as well as my old boots. The sole also wore out very quickly. I returned the boots and am hoping to find a different style of snow/rain boots to give LL Bean another chance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pair#3? I received these boots for Christmas 2005- to replace my unlined duck boots that were 11 years old. I normally wear a size 9.5 so I ordered a size 9- I wear them with pair of light to mid weight socks with a heavier ragg wool sock over..if I wear pants, I tuck them into the ragg wool sock. It was tough to get my foot in and out the first season, with the insulation of the boot- especially around the ankle... after that first season, they were fine. I have had them resoled once, and am debating on doing it again if I can figure out how to clean the insulation liner. I have been extremely happy with these boots, but wonder if I should upgrade to a warmer pair. The winter has become increasingly colder here. The current pair I own is the 3rd pair of bean boots I have had consecutively over the past 35 years. I love the quality of LLBean. Thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LL Bean Boots To anyone that has a pair of Bean Boots you know they are the best ever. I have a pair over 20 years old and they do not leak in mud, snow, water or goo. The only reason I ordered these is to replace a pair my Golden Retriever puppy decided to eat the tops off of. To her defense I left them available :) They are true to fit, are comfortable, last forever, can be resoled and are LL Bean Boots!!! Enough said.
