Rated 5 out of 5 by Cmello from Perfect baselayer/leggings! These pants are the best baselayer leggings I’ve ever bought. They are super warm, great to layer under my hunting clothes, and also great to just wear with leggings under a sweatshirt. The waist band is my favorite part. Almost every pair of leggings I own I’m constantly pulling them up all day. These LL Bean pants stay right above my waist and I never have to keep pulling them up. Definitely purchasing another pair!! I’m usually a small in things but the size chart stated that the xsmall was (2-4) which is usually a small at other stores. The xsmall fit perfect and snug like leggings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AvlGrl from Snuggly warm for skiing/snow play I purchased this base layer prior to a ski trip to Colorado and they delivered on warmth under my old snow pants. I also loved the rose/mauve color! Fit was as expected and they didn't slide down from my waist with activity, however, they were maybe a tad (1.5") too short on me. I didn't downgrade my rating for this, as having too many layers stuffed into ski boots is just uncomfortable anyway, but if I were lounging around in them I would have liked them a little longer. They washed/dried beautifully. I expect them to last for many wintery seasons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MidAtlanticMomma from Perfect for Outdoor Ecological Work This base layer fit just snug enough (5' 103 pound). No tugging; no binding. Perfect. They were delivered yesterday - just in time for me to wear them for my monthly 10AM-Noon tree-clearing/vine-clearing activities at a local ecological preserve. I did wear LLB flannel lined denim jeans on top to protect from thorns and barbs. Wore myLLB mucs and LLB wool socks - again to protect from barbs and ticks. 10AM temp 32F-Noon 40F. Wore with my new Scotch Plaid Flannel Tunic over a wool sweater. I was not overheated - I was comfy! I will be purchasing another pair as I am regularly outdoors in all weather performing stream and other field work for our local watershed and forest preserve.

Rated 4 out of 5 by asmithsgirl from Pretty Good I have several pairs of an older version of these when they were called Expedition Weight and had a bit of a different cut and design. The fabric for the former was possibly warmer and softer, but it was unforunately also super prone to getting holes and runs, which is maybe why they were discontinued? I like the design and fit of this pair. I like the wider waist band. So far the fabric is not as soft or warm as I was hoping, and almost slightly itchy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fran from Great base layer Bought the eggplant and black colors for resort skiing base layers. I LOVE to ski, but definitely run cold so I am always looking for the heaviest base layers to wear under my insulated snowpants. Have used both pairs as a single layer under my snowpants and washed both - cold, hang dry = no noticeable shrinkage. Overall I like them a lot. Definitely plenty warm - They would probably be too warm for XC or backcountry skiing under other pants. Higher waist (thank you LL Bean, no cold back!). Somewhat curvy fit that mostly works with my hips/ waist - I consistently struggle to find things that fit over my hips then get small enough in the waist to not slide down. These are a little bit big in the waist, but with my top layers tucked in they stay put. I would not be able to size down comfortably to an M. I'd say, a little bit see through, so I wouldn't wear on their own as pants. Hoping they hold up! So far, would buy again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Reka from Way too large esp. around waist These pants were made of nice warm material which I really liked but the fit was terrible! These are supposed to be tihpghts but the extra small was pretty loose areound my legs and just completely off at the waist, by about 3-4 inches out! Maybe these “tights” are made for pregnant women? Or “apple-shaped” women with lost of extra pounds? I don’t see anything wrong with offering these types of fits that I believe are much needed as the general waistline keeps inching up; however, there still should be options for those who are not overweight. If this is an “XS” size, there should be XXS and XXXS sizes available too with proportional waistlines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Coley from Great Baselayer I've never been much of a 'baselayer' wearer but these pants have changed my mind. I used to just wear stretch leggings under snow pants or work jeans but these pants fit like leggings and have fleece on the inside that doesn't add bulk. The waist was a bit big but have shrunk just a bit to fit snug after one wash. I have a baselayer shirt as well and the whole outfit works wonders for cold days. Even when I sweat it doesn't feel wet. Great product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by LittleGAmom from LOVE!!! The fabric is unsurpassed for warmth and is lightweight. It is not overly stretchy but have enough give for a base layer. I hang dry all base layers and these are ready to wear in a couple hours—great feature for a busy schedule. At 5’4” height, I consistently buy petite pants (which means base layers tend to run long) but these were a good length. I rated 4 stars only because the overall fit was on the small size (next time I’ll order an XL).
