Our classic casual coat is easy to move in and layer under. With little touches like inverted pleats and buttoned patch pockets it's no surprise this coat continues to be a customer favorite, year after year. Inspired by our iconic Field Coat (originally named Maine Duck Hunting Coat), first introduced in 1924.

In love with my new 'shell'!
I am in love. I had been eyeballing this jacket for years and finally got one! I did think the flannel would be a little heavier, but it's working out great pretty much as a 'shell' until deep winter sets in. I got a size up (3x) so that I can layer underneath and it's perfect. It was breezy, flurrying, and 35' yesterday and I wore a puffy underneath and was happy as a clam walking around the neighborhood.

Quality very subpar, not worth the money
I wanted to love this jacket so bad and I`m so disappointed, I don`t know what happened to the quality, this jacket used to be much better years ago, now it`s made with loose buttons, thin materials, rough and not durable cotton, and the worst of all, LL Bean can`t even sew the pockets evenly. I received one and then exchanged for another and both had one upper hand pocket sewn smaller than the other. You can get a much better barn jacket from other brands.

Good fall jacket
A little stiff, but that's what you get with a barn jacket. I'm very short and do not find the sleeves too long. I do cuff them and like the look. It's not going to get me through winter, but nice for fall.

The jacket is just what I needed.
The jacket just what needed, I live in the south and do not need a heavy winter jacket. I walk my dog and lift in and out a golf cart so I needed a sturdy jacket that did not catch or retain dog hair. I used the size chart provided it fits perfectly. I have room to add a sweatshirt. I packed it for a trip to Boston this fall it was great. I am 5-2, 119lbs, ordered a petite S.
