An L.L.Bean exclusive for three decades and counting, our classic river driver's shirt has an innovative duofold construction that effectively traps and holds warmth.
We named this shirt after the Northern Maine log drivers who made their living in tough conditions - because we designed it to work just as hard. Exclusively knit for us in Nova Scotia, our legendary two-layer Henley features a chill-stopping dual-layer construction - so cold and wet stay out and warmth stays in. We love how it's tough on the outside, and soft on the inside.
- Inside layer is made of soft, absorbent cotton.
- Woven just for us in Canada by Stanfield's, a 160-year-old family company.
- Outer layer is 50% cotton/40% merino wool/10% nylon.
- As a duofold construction (the cotton and wool are knitted together), it will shrink in the dryer.
- Machine wash, dry flat.
- Durable, quick drying wool blend outer layer keeps cold at bay.
- Rib-knit cuffs with Lycra® elastane.
- Thermal construction traps air between the layers to retain warmth and helps layers hold shape.
- Traditional two-button placket.

Could not handle 3 washings
Live in southern CA so only wore when weather was cold. Purchased 12 months ago and loved the look initially. Unfortunately, the background color/finish started showing through after the first wash. By the third wash, the color became permanently wrinkled as though the underlying lining shrunk at a different rate than the rest of the garment. Liked the color and feel initially and traditionally love LLBean product. This disappointed.

great quality and warmth
pricey but you totally get more than what you pay for. the wool is super warm and the inner cotton blend very comfortable, similar to a heavy weight smart wool, but more for everyday wearing rather that sweating in for winter sports

Fine fit but low quality wool
The design of this piece is nice, but the wool is just too scratchy. It pokes through the cotton liner. Id heard the vintage were better so I found one on eBay. Turns out it is indeed a lot softer and doesn't have that issue.
The design of the garment is fine, if a little long, suited more for an undershirt than anything else. Would have to be tucked in otherwise.

Luuuuv the river driver shirts
So glad l bought this shirt. Had one a few years ago and don’t know what became of it. The heft, weight, and feel of this shirt SCREAM “cozy”. I have purchased other Henley shirts from other companies, and they’re just not the same. I know these are expensive but this shirt is worth it. Awesome they’ve come out with new and different colors. I think two more will round out my wardrobe just perfectly.
