Best Barn Coat on the market
This the second Barn Coat I've purchased. The first, I recently sold for more than I paid. It was very aged and worn. (The denim was heavier but very vintage. Buyer loves it. This new one is lighter canvas but still good weight, love the wool liner. really great coat. Pockets are perfect for long days out and about. Got 20 years from the first one and expect to get at least the same with this one ( at 73 it'll be the last one ha ha)

This classic field jacket is as close as I could find to the coat of my father's, which my husband had taken to wearing.Except the new one doesn't have raggeddy edges!

Runs huge
Great coat but is gigantic-order at least one size down. My husband is always an XL and this coat in an XL made him look like a little kid wearing his father’s coat. Not sure if we should exchange for a large or a medium. Can’t believe he’d ever be a medium.

Classic tough coat
I've owned 2 of these coats over the past couple decades, both with the wool/thinsulate liner. Great rugged shell, classic styling, and the liner is warm. Just one flaw, which is a result of the old-fashioned 1920s design: the front button closure lacks a zipper and storm flap, has minimal overlap, and creates a gap in coverage of the button-in liner. The result is an uninsulated strip about 4 inches wide down the front of the coat that is quite drafty and cold. Similarly, the neck is uninsulated and does not fit closely. Thus the temperature rating of the coat is optimistic at best. In cold weather, plan to wear a sweater and scarf underneath the coat to help fill those gaps because by itself it is not a warm coat.

Dreadful Quality
After wearing my coat 5-6 times I noticed a sizable tear by the bottom button. Doing nothing more in the coat than walking my dog caused this damage? LLBean sent me a complete pice of junk. Best part- they can't send me a replacement unitl July. So the coat I planned to wear this winter will be arrive when it is 95 degrees out. LL Bean really let me down.
