Great - again!
I rarely write reviews, but I wanted to respond to some of the negative ones here. I've had an L.L. Bean barn coat for more than 20 years. It has seen a lot of wear through many construction and yard projects and other than a lot of dirt and a couple of very minor tears it is still in great shape. But it is too dirty to wear for anything other than home projects, so I wanted to get a new one. This one looked and sounded identical on the web site, so I took a chance on it. The one I have is an XL, but I ordered a Large/Tall as I have lost weight since I got the first one. I am pleased to say that the new one is identical in every respect to the old one and fits very well (I am 5'11" and 185 lbs). The material and construction is exactly like my old one, so I don't know how far back some of the negative reviewers are going, but it must be more than 20 years if they found anything different. I will admit that the buttons aren't sewn on as well as they could be (I never lost a button on my old one), so I'm in the process of reinforcing them. Otherwise I am quite happy to have a new version of my nice old coat.

Indispensable…after modifications
The original field coat had a huge interior pocket. It was a built in game bag, but I used it to hold everything. It was like a second carry-on. Beans dropped that feature (grrr!) years ago, so when I buy the coat I have to take it to a tailor to remove the lining and install the big pocket. A pain in the butt, but once done, my favorite great coat

Amazing Jacket
I've owned this Field Coat for well over a decade! Had to break it out again, yesterday as we're having a cold snap here in Florida. It still looks great! It still fits great! It feels like an old friend! This is why I purchase from L. L. Bean.
