Why We Love It
When our founder, Leon Leonwood Bean, developed this shirt more than 90 years ago, durability was the goal. Then as now, the 100% cotton shirt is brushed for exceptional softness and warmth. And it still gets better with age. In fact, customers rave about the "impeccable quality" and tell us that these shirts just get more and more comfortable over the years.
Fabric & Care
- Brushed 7.5 oz. Portuguese cotton.
- Machine wash and dry.
- Unbreakable buttons.
- Double-stitched seams for toughness.
- Original angled pockets and cross-stitched buttons.
- Shirttail hem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by CameronNYC from miles of extra material The material is lovely and warm. The cut is possibly the worst I've ever worn. There is legitimately about one foot of extra material past the last button, making this fit like a dress. Tucked in, there is still an absurd amount of extra material. I ordered a size small and I'm 5'9, 160lbs. No matter what I do, I end up looking like a little kid in this chamois shirt and will be definitely be returning it unless I get some reassurance that it shrinks a decent amount after a wash-dry cycle. I have other traditional fit size small products from LL Bean and they fit really well, so this is especially disappointing for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Anonymous from Chamois Shirts I have been a buyer of Chamois Shirts for close to 30 years. Of late, the quality is just not the same. I have several chamois shirts in my closet and two of them are quite flawed. One shirt is frayed in many places and the other is beginning to fray and and the elbow has torn out. I have been a loyal ll bean customer for years and highly recommended LL Bean to anyone because they have always stood 100% behind the products regardless of the issue including wear. I would find it very difficult to recommend these shirts now because there appears to be some sort of deterioration in the product. These shirts always lasted for years previously.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OutdrslvrFltlndChshd from Fitted properly; excellent weight The Chamois shirt I just received is one of approximately 10 of them I have owned over the past twenty years....but I haven't ordered one of them to replace deteriorating shirts for the past four years due to the unsatisfactory material of the last two shirts I had ordered (after washing/wearing them repeatedly. THIS NEW shirt is obviously a huge step forward in returning to past heavyweight, lofting and soft material that is friendly to the skin, and very warm indeed. I'm a happy camper! The fit and finish of this garment are superior. Super comfortable, and I look forward to a much better "run" with this shirt!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Dempse from Why fix what ain't broke? I have been wearing LLB chamois shirts for years and have never been disappointed. Until recently! I am now aware, and verified by Customer Service, that the sizing has changed. The shirts have the same size body but the sleeves are now way to long. Kind of an XLG sleeve on a LG body! Customer Service claims the new sizing is to allow the garment to be worn as an over-shirt. I did not order an over-shirt and the catalog did not explain this CHANGE well. I will now take the ride to South Windsor, CT and hopefully make an even exchange. Trying each shirt on before checking out is now a must.

Rated 1 out of 5 by 1964customer from Terrible fit I have been buying the Chamois shirts for decades. The shirt size that I wear is Medium reg. I purchased one last year, 2015 and it fit. I purchased 2 shirts in Sep 2016 in Medium reg and they are way too large. When I spoke with a customer service rep she explained that last Fall someone at LL Bean decided to change the specs for the Med sized Chamois shirt and to make it larger with 35" sleeves. I wear a 15 1/2 32 dress shirt and a 42S sport coat. Based upon LL Bean's size chart I cannot wear a Small either. In my opinion LL Bean's decision to make the Med shirt larger is a terrible mistake and has cost them this long time customer. Please see the comparison pictures of the 2015 and 2016 shirts.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MVRad from Chamois Shirt A Sham I have purchased this shirt for a few years now, and never had any problems until this year. WHAT has happened to the quality of your chamois shirts L.L.Bean Company??? I ordered two, small, regular, forest green shirts. The sleeves on the first one were 2" longer than the shirts I had in the past, and the other "identical" shirt had sleeves that were 4" longer!!! The smell of the fabric from the first shirt was toxic smelling as well. Until you bring the manufacture of these shirts BACK to the United States L.L.Bean Company, you've definitely lost me as a customer. Adios.

Rated 3 out of 5 by nobody1 from not the same shirt I've been wearing LLbean chamois shirts for over 30 years, and I've owned dozens. I still have one that's at least that old, although it is now a painting shirt, it didn't show significant wear for probably 10 years. The newer shirts however don't stand up to the test of time. They loose their chamois look/feel in one season (fall to spring). I wash them in cold water and hang dry. By chance, I looked at the label in the 30y/o shirt and found it was made in USA. The newer ones in my closet are made El Salvador or Nicaragua. They fit nice, they look nice, just a lower quality fabric.

Rated 3 out of 5 by jimb from 5 star fabric and sewing, 2 star style I have several of these shirts going back 40 years. The older ones have styling that fits an outdoor shirt. The newer ones have dress shirt details that look out of place. This fabric is quite thick so why are the tails so long? You cannot tuck it in and be comfortable, And it cannot be worn not tucked without looking like a slob. The cuff and back pleats are now dress shirt style, not the sport shirt style of older ones. I hope we don't see button down collars next. I have hemmed the tails on a couple of mine with good results.
