Our sweater is crafted from 100% premium lambswool yarns that are richly textured and noticeably softer than competitors' versions. In fact, it's practically impossible to find other ragg sweaters made without using lesser wool-blend yarns. Each of our ragg wool sweaters is designed stitch by stitch with time-honored styling and details.

Men's Bean's Classic Ragg Wool Sweater
This is the fourth L.L. Bean sweater of this style I've bought. The first one bought in the early 1970's was made in Norway and was 100% wool. The second was the same which I bought in the mid 1990"s as my first one was wearing out from heavy use. The third I bought at a thrift store (great deal!) Although it is a 2XL I can wear it over my normal XL tall on really cold days. It was made in Norway, but was 20% rayon/80% wool??? It looks and feels the same as the 100% wool. The one I'm reviewing now is 100% wool again, but interestingly it is made in Jordan. I looks to be well made. I'd be interested as to where the wool came from. At my age I think it will be my last as I still wear number 2 regularly in the cold months as it still has some life left. As you might tell, I don't just wear any sweater, and I believe the L.L.Bean version is the best. I also very much like the style and looks (blue with white). I have photos of me in #1 when I was in my early 20's, and now in my 70's the photos will look the same (except I have less hair and more wrinkles!) I highly recommend what is currently labeled as a "Classic Ragg Wool Sweater". Back in the day L.L. Beans called them "The Norwegian Fisherman's Sweater". Maybe the title now should be "The Jordanian Fisherman Sweater. From any country of manufacture I think they are the best...well maybe not from the Far East! Try to keep them 100% wool. For anyone reading this trust L.L. Bean.
