Introduced as Bean's Ice Carrier way back in 1944, the Boat and Tote was billed as a bag made of builders' canvas for hauling ice "from car to ice chest." Today you can spot our iconic tote doing heavy lifting everywhere - from the grocery store to the beach, to the library and commuter train. Tested to hold up to 500 pounds, it'll carry more than you can carry. We promise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best tote ever made Love these totes. I have purchased more than a dozen of them (size medium) for myself and for gifts. As a teacher for 27 years, I took my "teacher bag" to work every single morning, carrying things that needed to go to school and then bringing home things that I needed there. When I had chemo, my teacher bag went with me each time filled with puzzles, books, cards and comfort items to pass the three hour sessions more quickly. I never travel without one. They are perfect on the plane for holding my water bottle, snacks, a book or magazine and my travel documents. My most recent tote purchase was for my granddaughter who will graduate with her teaching degree and soon will be teaching elementary school. Because "every teacher needs a teacher bag" it is the perfect graduation present for her. My worn older bags (some 30 years old) have been used for all kinds of other things-garden tools, rags, beach toys, dog food and supplies when we travel, picnic supplies, bathroom supplies when camping, the list goes on. There are dozens of uses for these wonderful bags and I have never thrown one out for being too worn to use. They wear like iron! I highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 9th Totes in 2 Months How can anyone say anything but good things about Bean’s iconic Totes…for over 60 years we have utilized them for carrying groceries to decoys to beach gear to books and more. Our children and grands have receive them as gifts because the quality of the canvas and construction never wear out. We love our Bean Bags and will continue to gift the original Tote.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from After 46 Years, It’s Getting a Little Worn In 1981, when I first moved to Boston, I bought a boat and tote bag to carry my laundry down the street to the laundromat. Over the years, I’ve used it at least weekly to carry laundry down the stairs to the washer and dryer. It’s also carried Christmas presents to the family Christmas, dog supplies on road trips, and when I lived on a sailboat for two years, it held my entire wardrobe. It’s starting to get a little worn now, but I’m not giving it up!
