Not like the last one I bought
I have purchased the waxed cap before and loved it. This one is horrible. It doesn't even feel like it's properly waxed but instead treated with a quick spray on dwr that doesn't even keep out a light rain. And getting soaked through in a light shower has made the red of the lining bleed through into the cap.

Sweat stains that won't come out....
I bought one of these hats in both colors for a total of two hats. I really liked them when I first got 'em. But after only a little over a year, they are both really only suitable for work as they both have un-appealing sweat stains that are pretty bad. The weird thing is that I only wear them when the weather is cool enough and never when it's hot since they are lined with wool, and I typically don't sweat much at all when it's cool weather under just walking around conditions. I've tried just about everything ( shout, tide pens....name a stain remover and I've tried it) trying to remove the stains with no luck and the stains seem to be permanent, ruining both hats. Very disappointing since I really liked the hats for cold weather wear.

Quality hat. I think they run small.
It is a quality hat, with great thermal lining. I am a bit of a hat snob, and I would buy it again. Although, I have only small gripe - either my head is a bit big, or they run small.

A warm baseball-style cap
I enjoy wearing baseball-style hats as long as my ears don't need to be covered, and I do so in cold weather with this cap to provide more insulation for my cranium. The color is excellent and natural. I do find the bill of the cap to be exceptionally stiff, but it doesn't seem to interfere with my hearing aids. I also find the entire circumference of the cap stiff, but if one wants a two-layer cloth-style cap with a good wool lining, I cannot see how to avoid it. Perhaps it will soften over time. I'm wearing it and enjoying the warmth already this fall. The quality is what one always expects from reliable L.L. Bean.

great 3 season cap
Well made, water-repellent, not overly warm. Fits a little more snugly than a regular baseball cap because of the wool lining, but otherwise sits well on the head. The loden is a nice near-black color that goes with everything.
