For nearly 90 years, we've been making our authentic Scotch Plaid flannel shirts the way we always have: better than everyone else's. Our exclusive flannel fabric is meticulously woven with longer-staple cotton, which means the individual cotton fibers are about one-quarter inch longer than short-staple fibers, making a huge difference in fabric strength and quality. Then, it's meticulously brushed eight times on each side and given a "touch test" by a master weaver to declare it soft enough.

Washed Macbeth is gorgeous new color
My husband lives in flannels during the fall and winter, so I was looking forward to some new flannel color options for him. The washed Macbeth is much better looking in person. It’s his new favorite LL Bean flannel and can’t be beat as a gift.

Flannel shrinks with cold water wash, line dried.
After a one time wearing, I washed the shirt in cold water, gentle cycle, hung to dry. The sleeves shrunk about 3 inches and my husband could no longer wear it. I returned the shirt. I have purchased many flannel shirts from LLBean over the years and only recently encountered this problem with fabric shrinkage.

My Wife Says That I Made the Right Choice
Colors and fit are true to the photo. Washed and dried well, and the buttonhole placket stayed smooth (didn't pucker), which is a sign of quality fabric and construction.
